Take as long as you want my G. You signed to 2025 pre World Cup. You do what you like.

Back in Sussex
Even without Ali Mac and Caicedo we still have Lallana, Gross, and Gilmour to sit in the middle.
The problem with that is our first choice XI has invariably included all of Mac Allister, Caicedo, Lallana AND Gross.

No, no, no......surely an Argentinian player can't be back already...??? AND apparently the Argentinian players for Athletico Madrid.........!!!

But, but but,........ they won a really, really, really important football match nearly two weeks ago. They need to get drunk every night and parade around shopping centres, and do television interviews. How on earth are they going to do this when they are only on between £50,000.00 and £250,000.00 a week for......PLAYING football...??

How very bizarre...!

Poor loves.

Athletic Club Bilbao famously only play Basque born players so they'll rarely have Argentina internationals in their team.

Atletico de Madrid, on the other hand, paraded their Argentinian World Cup winners before their game last night. And Griezmann.

It's all a bit unfortunate given the other missing players this week but to my mind, if you've told the player he's got X amount of time off, then you honour it. He's just experienced the greatest moment of his life, and the potential for a massive emotional come-down is huge. History is littered with sportsmen and women who've achieved great things, and then found themselves sitting around thinking "Now what?", and unable ever to reach those highs again. It's important to enjoy the moment, and to take what you can from it. Never mind the physical strain: imagine if we hadn't let him take part in those massive celebrations in Argentina, and he was left feeling like he'd missed out or his moment had been taken from him?

The Albion seem to be pretty good at managing the emotional intelligence side of things, and I for one am all for it. Without that in this particular case, you get left with either an angry, resentful player, or a flat, demotivated one. Neither of those is any good to us. Hopefully he returns to the UK at the weekend a conquering hero, gets a massive round of applause from his team mates, and can't wait to get stuck back into training with the boys.

Hopefully Emi Martinez absolutely throws one in during their next game, and everyone turns around and says he should have been on the bench while he gets back to speed after not training for a fortnight.

None of the Argentinian Atletico Madrid players played a single minute yesterday.

Anyway, not Alexis Mac Allisters fault that the club gave him two weeks off. If you want to blame anyone, blame RDZ or whoever made the call.

Can we just blame FIFA for organising a World Cup somewhere it’s too hot to play at a sensible time of year when none of this would have been a problem?
