Would Napoli suit him? They turn lightweight, slow CM’ers into benchwarmers who can claim they’re a champion.
😂

I think he’ll actually want to play football (which would be his only reason for leaving Brighton at the moment imo)

Napoli have just got Kevin de Bruyne on a free - even at 33, his balls into the box and assists are still a football world away from the plodding pace and moderate attacking prowess of MoR.

He looks more like an 8 to me.

Takes a good pen.

Keep him as competition for Ayari, I say.

Not seen the interview where he says he isn't happy playing out of position (apologies if posted earlier in this thread) but could it be a case of having a direct question which has then been taken out of context to be the meat of the interview? Could even have been something along the lines of "Yeah, it's not my best position but it's a team game and if I'm needed there to cover injury/suspension then it's for the greater good"?

“I’m best at the number 8 position, where I can go box to box. I’ve only played two games there, otherwise I’ve been used as a winger, false number 9 or something else,”

“It makes it difficult to show off when you play a position you’re not completely happy with.”

“I’m just giving my opinion. I can play better for the team if I play the number 8 position, but I can play well in other positions. You can say it in a way that is not aggressive. If you are honest with another person, you don’t lose anything. The coach can always say he doesn’t agree."

Came on to post this too. This reads like he wants to play a position that Fab doesn’t really play. Would not be surprised to see him going this summer, and maybe that’s best for all parties. He also goes on to refer to some off field personal issues too.

You still going on about that penalty. 🙂 I said it was a good penalty but IMO not a ‘stonking’ one. It was a passing point in response to a poster and certainly a very minor aspect of my POV of him as a player. Seriously, anyone saying MoR is a replacement for Pedro if he leaves has not been watching either of them this season - that was a specific suggestion and I made a specific response - lets not blow it up out of proportion.

My earlier posts reflect my views of him as an overall player.

Happy to discuss other aspects of his game with you but banging on about one penalty is just argumentative and happy be proved wrong in September about what I have said regarding his weaknesses (and strengths) if he chooses to stay and compete for a start in Hurzelers side but I’m not sure he will.
To be fair, mine was the post you quoted about it being stonking (a term that I didn't think about that much at all, but you appear to have focussed in on) yesterday morning. I made that comment on SUNDAY...

It was a decent penalty, which couldn't have been placed much better. Could MOR do that every time? Possibly, but possibly not. Did I ever say he should DEFIANTLY be Joao Pedro's replacement as regular penalty taker? No. Will either of them be at the club by the time the transfer window SLAMS shut? Not a clue.

Ffs - another post about my comment on this frickin pen

Sunday I posted an overall view of him as a player and transfer rumours and this is what I am interested in debating

Please for the love of God - accept we disagree about the ‘stonkingness’ of the pen and MOVE ON about the pen people.

O Riley's comments are fleshed out in the Argus today. First of all Matt's discussions with Fab were cordial, I think this is a healthy thing and it's a good sign that players can talk to the manager freely. Matt also alluded to some off the field difficulties that have affected him negatively, so maybe this expression of frustration can also be seen in that context.

I like him, I hope he stays, BUT, if he’s going to start throwing toys after just one broken season, then he can foxtrot oscar.
'Throwing toys'? That’s a travesty of what he said in the interview. I think MOR is a really elegant and resourceful player. I also think if people knew more about his impressive non-footballing side they would be more generous towards him.

Yeah, it's another post about your comment, because you accused someone of dragging something out, when you referred to a comment from three days previously! I was merely pointing out the hypocisy.

I don't care what you're 'interested in debating', I can post whatever I like, whenever I like (as we all can, within reason) – and certainly when you've made multiple references to what I've written and jumped to the wrong conclusions about it, I'm going to respond. I'm not even talking about what you posted about on Sunday.

I could't care less what you think about MOR and I'm happy to disagree with you about the quality of ONE SPECIFIC penalty. But be aware that YOU were the one who brought it up days after I made my post and YOU were the one who disagreed in the first place.

PS: Wine might be nice, but it isn't the answer.

I agree with you that the throwing toys remark is nonsense.

On what he has shown on the pitch so far, he's well down the pecking order, whether at no 8, no 10 or wherever.

However it could very well be an awkward start. Weiffer had one, hell lots of the players we sign have one, very often they come good.

But I can only see it happen if our injury woes continue into next season. Given the on pitch displays, if he wants a midfield space, there are at least 5, probably 6 ahead of him for 2 spots. He likely won't make matchday squads. A similar situation is in place further forward. He can surely not be higher than 4th choice no 10.

Most likely he moves on in my view

Jokes aside, I think most people are feeling the same thing here:

Was super excited to sign him. Was gutted about his injury. Gruda/Ayari etc. then progressed massively this season. When you add in Buonanotte etc. coming back from loans, it's not clear if he gets much playing time.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave. But likewise, if he stays that means Fab rates him.

We're very congested in these positions. There will definitely be some of these players loaned out or sold. Will trust Fab etc. that we'll keep those who fit into what we're about the best. If that means he stays, good, if not that's also OK.

But nobody here is screaming for him to stay. Which I think says a lot. We should ideally feel the same way about all our players as we feel about Mitoma, JPvH etc.

If you're going to quote me then at least do it properly. "if he is going to START throwing toys"

He'll come good. That injury against Crawley really set him back and by the time he was fit again Ayari and Hinshelwood had done enough to get the nod ahead of him. For me he's always trying to make a positive difference when he plays and was beginning to show his quality later in the season. A good pre-season and he could be a key player next season

Can we all talk about that penalty a bit more please?

I also thought it was pretty average... 👀
How dare you, it was bloody stonking . . . and he should be taking all penalties from now until forever.

But yes we can certainly talk about it more.

It was so good it should be referred to often and for a long time, just like Ulloa's.

Everyone is getting tetchy very early this off season.

It is gearing up to be a good one.

When will the first :flounce: be?
