match worn shirt?

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION #14 1978 - 1980 MATCH WORN SHIRT on eBay (end time 07-Aug-09 09:53:32 BST)

I'm no expert but I don't believe this is genuine,for the following reasons (from memory so could be wrong)
A)Between 1978 - 80 matchday squads were numbered from 1 to 12
B) The club badge was situated 1/2 on a white stripe &1/2 on a blue stripe &
C)There was no number on the front of the shirt

So is it real or not? over to you superphil!

Total bollocks, only 1 sub in them days No's 1 - 11 and No.12 plus no shirt had a number on the front like that.

I'm in the process of making my own one from a Toffs shirt, and adding the Bukta symbol on the front and down the sleeves! Much more comfy and cheaper too!

deffo fake,even the colour is wrong, those bukta shirts were a very dark blue, how do you report this to ebay?

It could well be a match worn shirt , anyone could play in a shirt for a couple of minutes and say it was match worn ! The blue colour doesn't look right either unless it has been bleached in the Spanish sun. I think what really gives it away is the number square on the front and the fact that the genuine Albion matchday shirts would have been numbered from 1 to 12.

The seller certainly seems bona fide, others on here on another thread have said they believe it to be right, in fact did JCFG say he used to own that shirt? As for the badge positions, there are plenty of photos on the listing showing players in shirts with the badges in the same position. As for the numbers, as you can see above, number 14 was used. Cant really see someone going to that much effort for a fake, when it is clearly the sellers business. I have not seen one of these shirts for many many years, so not really in a position to confirm, but I beleive it is genuine from the information I can glean from the listing and from books and stuff I have,

What looked out of place was the number 14 on the front of the shirt. The shirt could have been worn in a friendly with no restrictions on substitutions I guess. I've been to friendlies and testimonials at the Goldstone and know that several subs were allowed (usually on for the 2nd half) but cannot remember for instance if the squad numbers were from 1 up to 20 or so.
