It's not about always being on TV
It's not about games being moved
And it's DEFINITELY NOT about supporters.

Cellino wants Leeds, and all other clubs, to own the rights to their games. Thus selling each game to the highest bidder. So let's imagine he gets his way and Leeds United PLC can sell each game off to Sky, BT, BBC, ITV or any other channel. They have a game scheduled on a Saturday against a lowly team and Pick TV offer him £25,000 to move it to a Tuesday at 6:30 do you think he'll care about the fans? NO he will take the money for sure.
Yes Sky need reining in a bit on the games they move and the BHA v Leeds is a good example, but we still take their money. Perhaps some sort of compensation is due to fans buying advance train tickets, hotels and other match day tickets they cant use, For sure something needs to be done but don't let Cellino own his own rights.

That's bunkum.

The market for a Championship club (even "mighty" Leeds) selling their own TV rights to all their games would be utterly miniscule. The highest bidder ? Who'd be the buyers, Challenge and UK Gold ? I can't see that being much of an auction. They'd end up with far, far less net income than what they currently get with the Sky TV deal, and they're already locked into a contract anyway, they have no independent option for the foreseeable, even if it was viable. And in the fantasy realm where they did somehow get independent rights away from the rest of the Football League to sell their games to whoever, there is absolutely no way the Football League would allow Leeds to chop, change and dictate the date and time of their fixtures to suit their own independent TV deal. Complete non-starter.

Cellino has now been banned TWICE by the Football League. This is primarily about being a pain in the arse to them and giving them the finger, not much more than that.

The most significant fact here is that Leeds were forced to play on Sunday against Forest for TV and Steve Evans has said - quite justifiably - that he'll have to make changes for tonight as a result. So Derby are even more firmly nailed-on for three points at Elland Road. Thank you, Sky.

Yes, but ...

I'm sure most Albion fans can come up with at least a dozen good reasons why Derby County should beat Leeds United, regardless of the circumstances on the day.

"Let's blame Sky" is an unnecessary addition to the litany.

We are no different. Sky money has dragged forward our Saturday match to Friday meaning only two days off for the team

Which is why it is even more baffling why the club moved Ipswich game from 3pm yesterday - a Bank Holiday - when many were off work, to this evening when most are back at work (except the train companies apparently).

On a different issue mentioned elsewhere on this thread, the Sky money isn't much when you consider that switching games, particularly to a midweek evening, means that many can't go. Yes, majority of no-shows will be STHs, but it is impossible to quantify the lost revenue from ticket purchases and walk-ups. And yes, we may get ~£100K, but what is the lost revenue from food, merchandise etc?

Football (generally) belongs at 3pm on a Saturday with a few evening games scheduled. Bad enough when we have to switch games to accommodate the telly, but I've not yet read anywhere an explanation for the decision to move yesterday's game to tonight (giving our increasingly threadbare squad less time to recover before Friday).

The Ipswich game was moved to give the players more rest after the Boxing Day game - 2 clear days instead of 1.

The selection of the Wolves game for television happened considerably later than that.

You are aware we played on Saturday, too??

They presumably felt that Sat <3 days> Tues <3 days> Fri, was better than Sat <2 days> Mon <4 days> Fri.

It was moved the week the.fixtures came out. Long before the Saturday game was switched to Friday. The.reason Paul Barber gave to someone on here was to give the squad extra rest time after the boxing day fixture something we've been.trying to do since the poyet era. The gap between boxing day and this game would've been short had we played yesterday.

There must come a point this afternoon where Sky have to walk away as they won't have time to set up for broadcast
