So you know two people, who out of thousands buy the Daily Mail and their political views are different from yours...I know quite a few that buy the Sun,Mirror, their views are different from mine. Fair play to you by saying that the Mail does not make them feel this way but you had to put in that Mail reinforces these thought patterns.
Nobody has asked you to buy it,like,it's on the shelf, buy it if you want.
I don't buy the Sunday Mail,(different company) although regarded as a sister paper, so there is no way I can comment what's in the OK magazine,as previously stated my weekend read is the Football League paper.
BTW,there is nothing crimminal about owning a vintage clothes shop or being a DJ.

Do you get told to **** off a lot? You strike me as the crazy guy in the pub on his lonesome that people pray doesn't sit down at their table.

I don't know why you get so upset at people calling the Mail a load of right wing bilge with bad journalism and spiteful journalism. That's exactly what it is. The fact that you defend it shows that you have the same attitude as The Mail does. The reason nobody has bothered to tell you why they don't like the mail since you posted the request is because they already have, time and time again but, sensitive wee sausage that you seem to be, feel this is abuse and don't read what is written. Unfortunately there are not many other ways to describe the mail without it sounding like abuse.

The Mail is a paper full of *****, made by *****, for *****.

Well you almost managed a post without using the disguised F word. You only know what I have written about myself, which of course NONE of you Daily Mail haters can manage to do.
You make these statements then do not back up words.
PS. I have loads of friends and some of them are of the left in politics.

So the words, hate, lies is norm is it to describe a paper but then you reinforce it by using disguised swear words as re your last line. Are you incapable of posting without trying to look big. Having spent 12 in the Services and 4 years on the Oil Rigs I'm well used to hearing swearing but I do not need to swear on posting.
Please give me your evidence where it is right wing bilge, seeing yesterday a whole page was given over to a Left wing feminist, kind of balances things out doesn't it,can you imagine a left wing paper giving the same to ,say,EDL..

Nothing wrong with Stephen Frys books,I have one on audio tape and it is fascinating listening.
Please..I put you down as a Daily Mail hater because of your own words of calling the Mail full of hate, bias, and downright lies, not exactly a love in is it! To be honest it does seem to stir emotions as proved by the post on here.
Agree there are a lot of threads on here about the Mail, again stirring emotions, but not one of them has come up with constructive criticism without being able to be abusive.
As regards to giving the lefts view in a balance,I don't know if you can get it online but I refer you to page 7 in todays edition 30th of October...a left wing feminist has a full page.
Wish you goodnight, are you affected by the fires,I don't know how far they've reached.

Fires didn't get down this far, they usually swerve us thankfully.

I have the greatest respect for people that have served our country, good on you sir.

However, if you are unable to see the Mail's pernicious agenda for yourself then there really is no hope. Just because they pay lip service to something vauguely life affirming occasionally doesn't make it balanced. Going back to your original post

- Most papers have corrections (including the Guardian)
- Most papers have a doctor section
- Most papers have a female section
- All papers have a letters page
- Even the equally biased Guardian had a Paul Dacre (DM Editor) article the other day

These are not things individual to the Mail. Do you ever read another newspaper?

In the interest of debate, I will put your question back to you. What do you think the Mail stands for? Where do you think it's political allegiences lie? Who/ what do you think are its enemies? Who do you think are it's friends?

Also, I'm am absolutely bewildered that you would compare feminism (the completely rational desire of women to be treated as equals in society) to the EDL an organisation that by the admission of their own former leader is rascist. Have a deabte about immigration by all means but they are RASICTS, meaning they don't deserve any piece of a rational debate because they act irrationally.

"the feminisation of Britain… starts in school, where barking-mad women teachers label boisterous behaviour as ‘attention deficit disorder’"

"My Geordie mate, Black Mike, would take one look at her in her absurd “Goth” outfit and remark: “Gi’ us a stick and I’ll kill it.”…When her owner – er, fiancé – Addams Family lookalike Dani Graves tried to take her on to a bus, the driver stopped them, saying: “We don’t let freaks and dogs like you on.”

Another of Littlejohn's ridiculous bile riddled articles about the five murdered women sex workers in Ipswich:

‘death by strangulation is an occupational hazard’ and that:

"In the scheme of things the deaths of these five women is no great loss.

They weren’t going to discover a cure for cancer or embark on missionary work in Darfur. The only kind of missionary position they undertook was in the back seat of a car".

Frankly, I’m tired of the lame excuses about how they all fell victim to ruthless pimps who plied them with drugs. These women were on the streets because they wanted to be…

These five women were on the streets because even the filthiest, most disreputable back-alley “sauna” above a kebab shop wouldn’t give them house room.

The men who used them were either too mean to fork out whatever a massage parlour charges, or simply weren’t fussy. Some men are actually turned on by disgusting, drug-addled street whores

You see, this is why I don't like the mail, they would need a a whole edition devoted to apologies to appease for this kind of tripe.

do people seriously still buy newspapers on a regular basis? they deliver the news, usually from one viewpoint, once a day....you can get minute by minute news from pretty much anywhere these days, from a range of sources

The moon is high up on a mountain
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
Waiting on the rapture

Singing, "We're here to keep your prices down
We'll feed you to the hounds
To the daily mail, to get up, together"

You made a pig's ear, you made a mistake
Paid off security and got through the gate
You got away with it but we lie in wait, eh
Eh, eh

Where's the truth what's the use
I'm hanging around lost and found
And when you're here innocent
Fat chance, no plan
No regard for human life

You'll keep time, you've no right
You're fast to lose, you will lose
You jumped the queue, you're back again

President for life, love of all
The flies in the sky, the beasts of the earth
The fish in the sea have lost command

Very good sir,a good reply and at least you have not resorted to being foul mouthed.

Yes I do glance at other newspapers at my club,I did not compare feminisn to the EDL,What I wrote was that a left wing feminist was given a full page to state her views, could you imagine a left wing paper doing the same, to SAY the EDL...a slight difference.
I have been through why I buy the Mail and have no wish to trawl over it again.
Thank you for a reasonable reply, obviously politically we are apart on our views but the same on the Albion so let's leave it there and agree to differ.

You should really read more newspapers.

It is far from uncommon for newspapers to get an "opposing" writer in and The Mail isn't the only one to have a dedicated corrections column.

Newspapers point of view in this country goes far beyond politics. I personally find the Guardian very annoying, not it's "politics' but the sneering urban buy organic halloumi and beetroot lifestyle it promotes.

The Mail I think plays on fear and the sense of a Golden Age that never existed.

Well done Nibble,it shows you can debate without foul language.
Your explanations why you do not like the paper are well thought out,and in your view I see point you are trying to make.
First nobody is saying 'buy it' are they, you have a free choice,I do not buy the Mirror because of it's left wing support for the Labour Party...it is a matter of choice.
If I really wanted too, I could go back through the archives and give you crazy headlines from the Mirror, seem to remember they had a photo of Nick Clegg which they attached a large false nose and the headline was something like 'Pinnickio' now that's really classy journalism, not much better than the Sun's 'Gotcha' re the sinking of the Belgrano.

As regards your headlines from the Mail which you carefully chosen through the decades, first you quote about the 30s,my decade. What you've got to consider is that society was different and had different fears for the future. The country was not long out 14-18 war and the spread of communism from the revolution was a fear for the Red expansion into Europe.
The 40s and the NHS...Attlee was a labour pm but I would'nt have said he was a communist but there again the fear of communism was real.
The 50s,Ah! yes,the Teddy Boy era, youth had new found freedoms and it shocked the older generation see the Jive and Rock'n'Roll dancing, kids in coffee bars, the gangs, who fought each and did'nt go round robbing old people. The 30s had the razor gangs from London at Brighton Racecourse as written by Graham Greene in Brighton Rock. Yes people were alarmed at the changing of the youth and they did blame American Rock music, the Mirror had similar headlines too. I'm going to disregard the choice of 60s headline...so people were mad at the reforms.
The 70s, Heath a consertive PM took us into Europe on the pretext that it was FTA (Free Trade Area) a common market,we can all see it has now spread into a political union,so he was considered a traitor to the British people.
Nothing wrong with the 80s headline,Did we not go to war with Argentina, did not the communist led unions get put down?
Your 1990s headline seems familar doesn't it,seems vote rigging is still going on now and as usual the use of bully boy tactics are being put into practice.
Let's just say we are different political animals, you, like me are entitled to have our views on life.

BOLSHEVIK MINERS CRUSHED UNDER THATCHER'S MAGNIFICENT FIST ?? Really ?

I find it hard to believe that this was actually a headline in the 1980's. People simply didn't use the word Bolshevik in that way, at that time. I'd be interested to see the original.

Btw, just read Littlejohn's piece in today's Mail. Rips into "A Girl Called Jack", the Guardian's single mum on benefits foodie writer. Provocative, as always, but that's what he's paid to do.

Yes. It does doesn't it. They are all over the internet. Littlejohn is not paid to be provocative he is paid to spew racist, sexist, misogynistic nonsense to the squealing delight of hand wringing, permanently outraged, little Englanders. Like you and SGOTW.

Bit late to this discussion, but a good example of Daily Mail 'journalism' today with Richard Littlejohn and Jack Monroe (no, me neither).

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/a...EJOHN-Ah-Pesto-Meet-poverty-poster-girls.html

http://www.theguardian.com/commenti...littlejohn-wrong-about-jack-monroe-daily-mail

It's patently obvious that he hadn't done the faintest bit of research about her, yet the sub-editor (assuming he has one) hasn't bothered to correct anything either. I also find it interesting because it cuts across the Jamie Olivier/Will Self thread, specifically about the 'class' associated with different types of food.

What about the Mail's campaign against the killers of Stephen Lawrence ? They were way ahead of the pack there. How come nobody's mentioned that ?
