Agree but can I put the "do one" another way. If they dont like the rules or the moderators decisions then they should vote with their feet, leave this site and they can always set their own up. Respect to El P for keeping the name of this thread without removing it. Show broad shoulders but it is offensive so maybe time to remove this thread

As far as I can remember, there has hardly ever been an example of a regular NSC poster starting a thread to promote their own religion, but there have been dozens, if not hundreds, over the years knocking religion one way or another, usually from people who have no idea what they are talking about.
I mean, I could use this board to evangelize if you wish, but I suspect you would you get fed up with it even quicker than I get fed up with the constant insults on here.

I had a rest from NSC because I was somewhat disenamoured with it being hijacked by people whose primary intent appeared to be the promotion of a fairly extreme, and certainly unsavoury, right wing agenda.

Perhaps you don't see that that is a direct insult to people such as me. You cannot separate saying that all religion is a lot of superstitious twaddle from saying that all those of us with a faith are somehow ignorant, gullible or stupid.
Perhaps you think you are having a knock at some concept or theoretical theory, but in fact you are attacking the most basic element of some people's lives.

Read the thread properly. My post came after a post claiming that the PC thought police have extinguished free speach in England. My point was that I am perfectly free to express an opinion without risking arrest or worse.
On the secondary point, you do not have the right not to be offended by other people's views. I happened to think the Pope is reactionary bigot who frequently voices offensive and disgusting views. I don't however start snivelling into my tofu when he does.

Nope, I'm not. No real reason why it can't but as with the zero tolerance rules when watching football, we know it goes on but not always punished. But if you get caught, you can't really complain. Same goes on NSC for racist, religious.....ow, what am I doing arguing with someone who calls themselves Loony FFS. You know what's acceptable and what isn't. Just accept or **** off. Your example of the pope is pointless. There are plenty of people within religion, as within all large groups, who are reactionary bigots. I suspect you still don't understand that when you attack 'religion', you are attacking those who hold those beliefs. If I can't take offence when something that is at the core of my being is insulted and portrayed as 'twaddle' then what, pray tell, am I allowed to get upset at? As it is, it is not one post, or one thread, that has got to me, it is the constant nature of the attacks. I don't come on here to be insulted week in, week out, which is what happens at present.
