The problem is we are not allowed to say anything against a religion in this country as the political correctness does not allow us to do so. In Switzerland they have basically said balls to that we ain't putting up with it. However in this country we will cow cow to every minority.

Not EP's fault just a sad state of the chicken liver country we now live in.

Absolutely spot on!

... and hopefully in the future we will be allowed free speech again.

your free speach isnt affected, you can start your own online forum and say what you wish.

i'd rather the line wasn't crossed as soon as one particular subject came up. but then, why are we discussing that here on a football board anyway? we all have a chioce, accept it or go elsewhere. thats the freedom we have.

...However in this country we will cow cow to every minority.

The problem with free speech is we don't have it anymore in this country do we ?. Not on NSC and not in general. You are not allowed to criticise religions ( I won't mention them as its probably not allowed but we all know who they are ) incase it offends their sensabilities. These religions appear to think they are superior in every way to others.

Not any more. You start a thread then ripping into a religion and see how long it lasts.

The Police don't censor the internet.

Get a grip FFS.

If only that was so.

I'm aware of at least one previous occasion when a complaint to the police about a specific post on NSC resulted in a threat to prosecute and a detailed trawl of other messages posted on this site.

It took SIX months before a final decision was taken that no prosecution would take place. On that occasion, it wasn't Bozza who had a threat of prosecution hanging over him, but the poster of the original "offending" message, but that didn't stop Inspector Knacker taking a good look at NSC over a long period of time.

As El Presidente has already said ... it's the COMPLAINT that has made us sensitive to what might happen, not the fact that certain topics might be considered sensitive.

and people will still tell you you are free. unless you conveniently discount legislation DESIGNED to stifle debate on certain aspects of social change.

Still, if you live in Monocultural Sussex, why care about these dangerous shifts when you can score groovy points easily and still sit well inside the law?

Possibly TS, but you are assuming you know what the complaint was, and what possible Act(s) of Parliament have been breached.

It certainly is IMO a waste of police time and public sector money.

fair enough and I will not bang in about it. I just find it hilarious that people are in denial about what this is really about. I dont mind people saying right you cannot talk about it here as it could cause us a lot of grief, and/or asking for these discussions to be taken elsewhere. completely fair enough. except if the law makes certain statements in these discussions potentially illegal, its not really a solution is it.

I am not asking anyone to be a martyr for me, especially not someone who thinks I am a cnt. You have to admit you and I have heard the 'i would defend your right to...' old cobblers on here many a time. Did not see them exactly standing up over this though eh. but lets acknowledge the real implications of this. its not just a lone grass. its a lone grass that knows the law is on their side and part of the reason for some legislation being bought in was to do EXACTLY this - shut down debate. Anyone with an ounce of sense knows this - accept it at your peril.

first they came for the people who opposed expressed concerns over mass immigration......,

Appreciate what you say.

I don't think the law is on the side of the complainant, and fully expect everything to be dropped in due course, but until then

The house next door to my son was burgled the other night. He phoned the police and they said they would be round when they could. They didn't turn up. So the next day. I contacted the police and they said they were busy and they would deal with it as soon as possible. Kind of puts the police priorities into perspective.

Thank you. I see that.

Are the majority on here in favour of freedom of opinion, though?

If someone starts a discussion board and allows people to discuss varied topics, they should expect controversy. Doesn't it follow that they should defend the rights of members to post what they feel?

Of course, that's the point of taking part in discussions to argue rationally with people of an opposing view with the aim of generating interest, debate and maybe find some common ground.

It is the ever increasing state censorship of our inept and immoral government that is to blame. But then lies and ignoring public opinion come as second nature to the likes of Brown and Mandelson.

Ripping into religion, or 'a' religion. There's a key difference. I'll happily slag off all religion til the cows come home, and fully agree with your assertion that there is a ridiculous taboo about criticising religion. But I hate it when I hear the muslims, or the jews, slagged off with the implication they are inferior to christians, and particularly when it is used as a generalising term for people when that is so wide of the mark.
