The Rush chit-chat on the "metal" thread has stoked my interest in this gig. I've seen them before twice at Wembley but this was back in the Hold Your Fire period. Isn't it the week after next?

Yes it's on 6th. Getting ahead of myself! I think there are still tickets available.

Really looking to The Besnard Lakes at the Komedia this evening. Tickets left I believe, listening to their most recent record now and as per the other 2 it's a cracker.

I considered going to this. Sure it will be a great evening.

Less than 3 weeks to go until Springsteen at Wembley.

A packed stadium on a Summer night, no curfew issues like last year, an assurance that the volume will be turned up as loud as permissible and the greatest live ensemble in rock music.

Should be a cracker.

Just two paid gigs for me prior to the Deerhunter ATP

Liars - http://www.brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=52381. Their Green Door Store show last year was about as good as it gets.
Melt Yourself Down - http://www.brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=52101. Have a feeling this could be an "I was there" moment. I'm waiting for the double sax attack!

Some good free stuff coming up as well;

30 May - http://www.brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=52101
31 May - http://www.brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=52951
1 June - http://www.brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=53880
6 June - http://www.brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=52993
8 June - http://www.brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=52208
9 June - http://www.brightonnoise.co.uk/listing/?p=54760

Thanks more than any thing for bringing to my attention brighton noise. There are lots of Great Escape reviews and photos that are worth a look on there plus lots of other stuff.

Camper Van Beethoven tomorrow. A band I've wanted to see for over 20 years.

Money permitting I'll be having some Giant Drag, Deerhunter and Kurt Vile all announced as coming to town. Super

For anyone who is interested; Polish Gypsy Band - live at the The Prince Albert in June. Bit different from the usual, but I try to put on concerts from local migrant communities. All profits go to the bands. I took Polish mate from one of the bands to her first ever Albion game - she loved it, and was swearing pretty loud in Polish, until we realised the guy in front of us was Czech and could understand...

I was just thinking its about time Ty did something. He hasn't released an album, formed a new band or collaborated for a good few weeks now. I will look this up; love everything he's done so far.

I am pretty fond of this one. The band name seems appropriate, glad to hear you have the bug, I think he's outstanding. In fact there's alot to like about that whole San Fran Garage Rock scene (Ty Segall, White Fence, Thee Oh Sees, Sic Alps, Mikal Cronin)

Yeah, he really is a lazy bugger isn't he?

If his new band are coming over to the UK is there a tour in the offing? Might they be playing down here?

What astounds me with him is the continued quality of his output. I know it's not the most technically proficient music in the world but he hasn't done anything even approaching a dud. Even Epsilons, his band before are great, if extremely lo-fi.

He knows where Brighton is on the map. I've seen him at Jam in '10 & an absolute barnstormer at the Green Door Store last year.

I missed him both times, but only got into his music about a year ago. He's costing me a lot of money as I try to catch up with his consistently brilliant output.

And yeah, not enormously proficient technically, but nor are many of the greatest bands.
