I clearly said back in the day The Goldstone wasn’t a great place for visiting fans either and it regularly kicked off in the park behind the east. I don’t know how far you are going back so you may have a different perspective. When I started going away with mates early 80’s you could pretty much guarantee it would go off, the older lads looked out for the youngsters and tbh it wasn’t exactly a family day out back then. To say Brighton wouldn’t have had a go is way off the mark. Brighton turned over Leeds in the Withdean days which wasn’t that long ago.

That penalty should be 10 x that amount.

50% going to charities related to the abuse and 50% as compensation for the opposition fans who had to witness the chanting/language. The money would be used to subsidise tickets, parking or food/drinks for the opposition fans.

That would really piss Leeds Fans off.

I was going then. Trouble was rare, and if it happened generally brief. I don't remember a single instance where it was started by Brighton fans when it did occur. Doubtless someone could point to the odd occasion. But Brighton was not renowned for having a 'firm'. Although some might have liked to have thought so. There was the famed 'West Street Gang' which seemed to consist of a mythological group of headhunters, but were probably a bunch of Ronnie Corbett sweatered teenagers who got a bit loud at times after too much Strongbow.

A bit like at Birmingham a few years back when I was walking back to the station. Now that was funny. A group of Brummy youths giving it the large to some pot bellied 40/50 something Albion fans who stopped to say hello. The kids were pleased there was a police line between them

Football is just weird. I'm not going to pretend I wasn't influenced to a small degree as a youngster, but harking back to it, or even being a part of it now is so lame.

If folk say the atmosphere is sanitised it's only because no-one is creating one.

couldn't agree more, same goes for FFP and all other occasions where fines are the punishment- unless the fines are eye wateringly high then they simply wont even be noticed. £150 000 is meaningless to most clubs in the top two divisions. Leeds will probably have multiple players on that amount a week.

The only deterrent I can see working is a meaningful points deduction , not suspended for two years or anything. The investigation and hearing needs to be quick, decisive and if appealed and lost the points deduction doubled

Agree except if they appeal it shouldn’t be doubled if the lose - mainly because of my parking fine experiences “pay within x days, no hassle and you get it half price” - it is unfair, if you challenge it you pay double, ****s.

If you start taking points away from teams when their fans are found to be guilty of being utter f**knuggets then things might change.

In times of universal deceit telling the truth will be a revolutionary act…………anyone that knows the times back then would never position BHA in terms of Millwall etc. but that misses the point.

This is Leeds we are talking about, a team BHA had something of an off pitch spat with for a few years, culminating in an event where for “wading in” prison sentences were handed out for some.

No doubt these days the wet mattress brigade would like to erase this from peoples memories with a bit of pontification about BHA fans wanting to buy other fans a coke on a supporters website.
