[Albion] Leeds United fined £150k for their fans' homophobic chanting

Leeds fans were giving every one of us homophobic abuse outside the ground after that game, including my teenage son. With local coppers every 10 yards or so that couldn't give a shit, even when it was raised with them.

I emailed PBOBE after the game. The homophobic abuse was so obvious and right in front of Leeds stewards and police.

Yep, they seem to pick and choose what they take seriously/ follow up.
Worst I've seen is Forest last year in the train queue at Brighton, group of them none stop homophobic chanting with police right near by,didn't even look over.

couldn't agree more, same goes for FFP and all other occasions where fines are the punishment- unless the fines are eye wateringly high then they simply wont even be noticed. £150 000 is meaningless to most clubs in the top two divisions. Leeds will probably have multiple players on that amount a week.
The only deterrent I can see working is a meaningful points deduction , not suspended for two years or anything. The investigation and hearing needs to be quick, decisive and if appealed and lost the points deduction doubled
All the time effectively nothing is done, it will continue

Totally agree. Racism, homophobia and any discrimination will continue all the time there is no effective sanction.
Make the clubs take the steps necessary to stop it.
Someone should be made an example of. And it would be great if that was Leeds

That penalty should be 10 x that amount.
50% going to charities related to the abuse and 50% as compensation for the opposition fans who had to witness the chanting/language. The money would be used to subsidise tickets, parking or food/drinks for the opposition fans.
That would really piss Leeds Fans off.

No we wouldn't. Brighton fans do not have a history of 'wading in' except on rare occasions. And certainly not towards a few hundred Leeds United fans. They would kick the shit out of us.
We've never been that sort of fanbase. I remember an old Plymouth Argyle fan saying how he had travelled the land and Brighton was one of the safest places to come.
I know that will upset a tiny minority who will bring tales of great bravado, but it's a fact. It's a great place to come.
I know some don't like the new order, but if folk can't come to a game, cheer their team on and enjoy a family day out, then I suggest they spend the afternoon with the tissues and YouTube watching some 70s Aggro Porn.

The replies to the tweet mostly seem to be that it's all unfair as opposing fans frequently sing songs about Saville.
The report states that the range of fine possible was £20,000 to £300,000 due to it being a Premier League game.
I can't be arsed to go searching, but the implication is that had this been in the Football League then the fine would have been less, possibly significantly so. Perhaps it should be based on the turnover of the offending club.
