Getting the Ukraine option right wasn't very difficult unless you are a complete ****wit.

Yup. I don't get the praise being heaped on Johnson for effectively doing what most other leaders have done. And, if he HAS done anything differently, or quicker than others, you can guarantee it was because one of his SPADs was in his ear telling him to because it would make him look better with the public, which worked! If everything was going swimmingly here, there's not a chance his is cosying up to Ukraine.

Thing is, his fans and supporters won't see it – or any of the other criticisms chucked his way in the same light. Which brings us back to Starmer. The way the press continues to parrot the line of it being 'a political decision' and 'yes, but he...', so the general public will swallow it and think it is a conspiracy and he's got away with murder. They won't forget the next time a GE comes around, either. And some of these people wonder why – or get offended – when they are called stupid :dunce:

Irinocally, it's the pro-Tory, anti-woke mob who object to being called stupid when in fact they are the very people who hanker for a time when it was okay to call a stupid person, stupid. One of the manifold reasons that they are regarded as stupid.

I/we get really annoyed when I’m vox pop stuff and so on, people parrot the notion that “they’re all the same”. They’re not! If people think that any other politicians would do the same as Johnson had, they are wrong, whether it’s Keir Starmer, Ed Davey, Caroline Lucas, or even certain Conservatives. Theresa May might not have “got BREXIT done”, but she was honest and trustworthy…… in my view.

The PM isn’t meant to be the spiritual leader of the nation for heaven’s sake. He or she is a politician, nothing more or less.

Agree 100%. And the reason Therese May didn’t “get BREXIT done” is because it is actually undoable unless you are prepared to sacrifice huge parts of the economy, GDP and jobs in pursuit of some purist form of splendid economic and commercial isolation. And that’s before you even consider how the **** to reconcile leaving the EU with the Northern Ireland question.

That’s why Cameron ****ed off the morning after the vote and went to live in a Shepherd’s Hut at the bottom of his garden. Johnson bragging that he has got Brexit done is as laughable as it is untrue. It’s like chucking all your furniture on the front lawn and claiming you’ve moved house.

My view entirely. Johnson got BREXIT done by not sorting the big problem and kicking it in to the long grass.

I read an article by an EU person a few weeks ago which said very clearly what must’ve obvious to anyone who thinks about it that there are two possible courses of action:
1. You have a full blown border between North and South in Ireland…. Or
2. Northern Ireland (at least) stays in the single market.

If either is unworkable because of the views of factions in NI that’s our problem, not Europe’s.

Based on an extremely close result she could've delivered a soft brexit that fulfilled the promise to leave without ruining trade and peace.

The line from brexiteers': 'Absolutely nobody is talking about threatening our place in the Single Market.’

Her red lines on freedom of movement meant she could only pursue an unworkable version of Brexit.

I’ll also question her honesty and trustworthiness. When she was Home Secretary under Cameron, she introduced the Hostile Environment with vans going round saying Go Home to immigrants. Windrush papers were destroyed under her watch, but she got away with it by letting Amber Rudd take the blame.
She didn’t handle the Grenfell fire very well imo.

May was a horrible Home Secretary and no amount of her dissing Johnson should allow us to forget that.

Outstanding last sentence.
