As a complete novice in all things Kodi, is a set top box needed? I have seen plenty of them on Amazon, but they all seem to be Android based. Is this a problem if I use an iPhone/iPad, or am I barking completely up the wrong tree?

I'm pretty new to it but a fire stick works perfectly. Plug it into TV and you get a remote with it. Cost £35 but I would be more than happy to pay 10 times that

It can be run from pretty much anything really. Android smartphone, laptop, desktop, Mac, android TV box, firestick.

It can be installed on iphone/iPad but it's a lot of faffing about. Best off to just buy a firestick, it really is worth it.

You basically get all cable/satellite/terrestrial channels from around the world plus all movies and boxsets on demand.

A few people have said I should buy the blank firesticks and sell them on with the sources preinstalled etc but it's not really me. Someone sells them on eBay for £230 and has sold hundreds. He markets it as a super build when really all he has done is installed the beast build which takes all of five minutes. What people don't realise is the still need to maintain it/update etc.

Cheers, what's the difference between a FireStick and one of these?

I only paid £13 on top of the £35 for a pre lloaded stick. I'm glad I did as I wouldn't have had a clue where to stop with a blank one, but as you say ' I have had to update and make my own add ons since so much better to buy blank unless a complete novice

I really, really thought that would be a link to a dildo of some sorts

Nothing really, that is basically an android box. It also supports playing from a memory stick etc. Don't know everything about it, just what I have read from the description. I know there is a T10 out now though that can be had cheaper.
If you are going to buy something though don't be fooled by the auto updates. All the time the developer of the source is updating their addon then it will auto update but when they get bored you will need to update it yourself etc. Also sources change. For someone new to it I would recommend a firestick or the cheapest android box. When these boxes come 'fully loaded' that means that they have added everything they can, which is stupid as most of them are the same bloody thing anyway. So it confuses the issue not to mention the box spends about ten minutes updating sources everytime you switch the thing on. Buy something blank and add three sources and you have everything anyway. There is also a porn add-on that I'm sure you will know about, in fact you are probably the developer.

Whenever someone comes to me to sort out their device that they have bought, the first thing I do is blank it and start over. Kodi sources change so quickly that you need to be in control, but it's really not that complicated. I would advise a compete novice to buy blank as installing sources are easy. Updating a fully loaded box/stick is a nightmare.

Excuse my ignorance but a FireStick is the Amazon product isn't it?

Using it right now, clicked on sky sports 4 and watching Levente v Valencia. No problems or buffering at all!

Swillis You are once again the man.

Also for anyone struggling with sportsdevil I'd recommend 'Halow' for footie. Its even better believe it or not.

Can't see Halow on the "get more" listings ?

Don't know if the resident experts have mentioned it but Live Mix is great for sport too. I'm watching a great BT stream via it now.
It's also got every free view/satellite channel. It's the best all round add on imo. For a techno moron like me, I find this site the best for a step by step guide.

If you have a recent smart tv with quad core and a google search engine then you can install kodi on it without the need for a box.
We have a box for our Telly which is a smart tv but 3 years old but we bought our son a Samsung smart tv for xmas and with the aid of .a usb memory stick I've got kodi on his tv.
No box.

Yes it is. £35 from Amazon or Argos.

Keep in mind that this is a brand new add-on and this is version 1.0.0, so there will be teething troubles. I will post back when there are any updates but this has the potential to be very good.

Livesportstreams.tv seems to be back working on SportDevil :clap2:

It was updated recently, so I think that solved the issues that some were having.
