How on earth is it scapegoating! Are we not allowed to say players played poorly? ???

And I think you'll find it's NOT NSC, pretty much everyone who was at the game would say Mayo was poor.
Seen it all before, it's just the few voices on here back early after the game who won't ever blame Hendo or who won't ever blame El Abd for a goal.

Thing is, I'm no great fan of Mayo and was pretty surprised when McGhee started him this season.

But I'm gonna give credit where credit is due, not just lapse back into tiresome prejudices at the first slight setback

Stop scapegoating them!

All three should have done better on that goal, but Mayo was poor throughout.

Admit it, you've never rated Mayo have you? It doesn't really take much for you to get on his back.

It's just so tiresome when the player has done well so far this season.

Mayo got rapped up and down the touchline in both halfs it was a pretty lame effort from el abd and mayo for the goal!

mayo just hasnt got the pace we need he looks more composed on the ball and im sure brings the experince to the back we need but still like chippy is our weekest link so unless we play a team without any experince weve got to put up and shut up

Yes the guy was not at his best today but for fucks sake this guy has given this club 11 years service. The manager picks the team and at the moment he thinks Kerry Mayo is the best player to play at left back in his current squad.Rather than slag of this loyal servant for 1 bad half lets get behind him.

some of his tactical decisons were awful today

Just because he may not have benn at fault for the goals, doesn't mean that he couldn't have played a part in preventing thme. There were times when he
1. Got skinned and other players bailed him out.
2. Played poor passes and put other player under pressure.

So, their equaliser may have started from a move on the opposite wing, but he should (with all of his vast experience at championship level), have done better at covering. Lynch did it many times in the game.

What part of Mayo's game is good?
Distribution :nono:
Pace :nono:
Reading of play :nono:
Leadership :nono:
Scoring own goals in crucial games

Sorry, but I think Rents deserves a chance.

Thing is though Vulture, its not one bad half is it? Its three bad years.

I'm all for giving him credit for the great service he's put in, but he was woeful today. Worse than woeful in fact. He must have been really embarrassed with his display.

Agree 100% Hans but it is up to the club to sign another left back lets face it at the moment MM thinks Kerry is the best choice for the postion and all I am saying is whats the point of slagging the guy of

Irish, I'm a big Mayo fan. Was really pleased too see him do well at Rotherham. I also hope he plays well for us during this season. He was poor today though. Struggled for pace, poor in the tackle and dodgy passing. Its game 3 and with a run of game I'm sure he'll improve.

I think a lot of people had poor games during patches today and its harsh that Mayo is singled out when you could easily have a Hammond/Carpenter/Stokes/El-Abd thread but Mayo struggled today, he didn't play well.

Well, we were both of us among a group of people who gave Mayo a six in the player ratings thread. I guess you are a generous marker then ;)

I give him credit in other areas. I think his positioning is good, I think his experience helps those around him, and despite his short comings, I think he takes responsibility and gives it his all. So a poor game but still offers something to us.
