No, that doesn't work. You can cover for an outfield player. You can't cover for a keeper.
Whilst yes it would penalise genuinely injured keepers it certainly would stop the fake injuries!

This was a deliberate tactic that Smug Eddie used so he could have an impromptu team meeting.
In fact they were so busy having their meeting, they didn't even send the magic sponge on to rescue the ailing Pope (not that ailing Pope)

If your keeper goes down in need of treatment, the game stops, as per usual. However, every player from both teams must gather in the centre circle until the stoppage has finished. Managers stay in their technical areas. Never mind water-breaks. Never mind pep-talks. All players are confined to the centre circle until the keeper has had his treatment. Once the trainer is off, the game recommences.

It needs dealing with, and I believe this is the solution. Any other ideas ? Bueller ?
Something along these lines, at least. Maybe both teams go to their respective penalty areas. But yes, no benefit in the way of refreshments or pep talks.

I’m confused.

I thought Pope was dead and Roma was singing St Louis Cardinals keeper to replace him.

I didn’t realise he had risen from the dead, I thought that was Gabriel Jesus.🤷

Have a solid barrier that shoots up from the ground enclosing the technical areas as soon as the referee stops play.
If it sends any of the coaching staff pinwheeling into the air because they are across the line that's entertainment. If any are fully outside eject them from the stadium, though there may not be room on the sidelines for my preferred option of trebuchet.

Should be a simple thing to fix. Don't stop the play (unless it's a head injury) - and on the subject of 'head injuries', if a player goes down clutching his head and subsequently gets treatment on his leg or wherever, automatic yellow card.
Similarly, if a GK is writhing round clutching their leg, only to suddenly leap into action when it appears the opposition are likely to score - yellow card.
Another thing that could be tried is to allow the medical team (maximum of two) to come on straight away, but for play to continue.

A good call out by @Easy 10 and I agree with his solution too. You’d have to tweak a little for when there are allowed time outs in extreme heat or where players are breaking a fast but, in general, yes, all players to retreat to an area and coaches to stay in their technical box.

It wasn’t the only time either. One of their players frustrated me immensely by going down right on the touch line by their dug out, leading me to ask Pawson “can’t he die in the other side of the line?”.

The ref should be in charge of that situation though. As I said on another thread it was a great day out ruined by 90 minutes of Craig Pawson. Had some great drinks and laughs with mates, just a shame the match was so poorly controlled and officiated.

I came to this thread to post the same.

So blatant was the deception, that they forgot to actually send anyone out to 'treat' him. Pawson was looking over, waving his hands, like "err... hello?"

Agree. I think play on. I don't see why a keeper should be any different

In the rare event that the keeper is actually injured, then the players from the defending team have to go hell for leather to get it out of play. It will probably result in an extra goal a season where a genuinely stricken keeper can't get up and the attacking team have the ability to score before the defending team can get to it.

At a break in play the keeper should have to go off to be assessed and treated like any other player. What the team does about it is up to them

Head injuries are different, but then a keeper can't get a head injury off the ball. As ever if a keeper or any player is caught feigning a head injury, this should be a 6 month ban.

Stops it being used tactically at a stroke

Pope going down was either a tactical instruction or “good thinking” from Pope (albeit against the spirit of the game, depending on the colour of your replica shirt).

He went down for no reason following a lengthy VAR stop when the atmosphere was at a (for the Amex) fever pitch. His delay killed the crowd’s momentum and sense of injustice at the poor refereeing perfectly. When play restarted things had settled.

Very cynical and classic Howe, but completely effective.

Refs used to manage the game, now they let it drift into a farce. Players should not be allowed near the dugouts and also yesterday Smug wanker entered onto the pitch which is not allowed at any time. 4th official too busy doing f*** all.

This is the most sensible and only solution. Give gloves to a defender or whoever in meantime, or make a substitution. Keeper returning then needs to charge back from the half way line and get his gloves off the outfield player whilst the game continues.
That's ridiculous. If Bart was seriously injured and had to go off and we conceded whilst he was off, you'd be happy with that? Thought not!!

Don't make things worse by trying to fix a simple problem.
