What was the keeper trying to do with the first?? Great strike, but he’d surely be disappointed with that.

Also, what stadium is this being played at. Barca at home, but that looks like an athletics stadium, but like us at Withdean.
Um, it is an athletics stadium (Olympic stadium). Camp Nou is being tarted up I think so not being used this season.

Rapidly becoming scarily good. Preferred the second goal, first the keeper fluffed the save somewhat.
I don't think the keeper was prepared for the power of the strike. Tough to save a shot that fast.

Still in Brighton

Maybe but he got a solid hand to it. Still a good goal but I thought how he adjusted to finish the second was more impressive.

I must say it's delightful to see British players doing well in the foreign leagues. Previously, I would struggle to list players who have done well, often citing Archibald at Barca ffs.

McManaman had a decent stint at Madrid didn’t he? So I’m recent (not even that recent) years him and Beckham?

Edit: actually Abraham and Smalling have done fine at Roma.

He’s some player, is young Jude. Seemingly a really decent bloke too. He’s gonna be up there with the best England has produced isn’t he?

McM was quality at Real and scored a brilliant CL Final goal. Lineker proved himself at Barca, even after Cruyff became the boss and made him play wide.

Sickening the amount of talent we have to pick for England and its being wasted with Southgate

I wonder what Henderson will do to match Kane scoring from half way and Bellingham smashing Barca?

Rice, Phillips and Henderson are nuts’n’bolt centre midfielders holding the thing together, the water carriers. Every team has them. Although I think Phillips has always been overrated. In the past Ledley King, Barry, Butt.

Obviously none of these players had the sublime creative play or scoring of Bellingham. He’s once a generation.

The England issue is that Southgate (like Mourinho, Conte and even Guardiola against decent opponents) likes to play two CM’ers who amongst other things protect the back 4. If we take punchbag Henderson out of the equation, then Southgate will have Rice and Phillips in unadventurous CM roles, so essentially no change.

until Mbappe goes to a proper league, he isn't even in the conversation imo

In internationals and most CL games I think he’s frightening, said reluctantly as I want France and PSG to fail.

We’ll soon find out. On 1 July 2024 he’ll join Real and Bellingham as a free agent. Giving Franco’s club CL titles 15 to 20.

But Kane is a dick.
Nah he’s not at all for me. He’s always seemed a decent fella but don’t know him personally like many on here do. He’s also the England capt.

Gareth Bale did rather well at Real. But I agree with your general sentiment.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Kane and this was based mainly on his on-field antics. The move to Bayern, the reasons he cited, plus the way he’s handling himself down south has changed my view of him.

???? Champions League not proper? And what about the business end of international tournaments? He’s more than proved his credentials against Europe and the world’s best.
