Real shame, and feel gutted for him.
He wasn't perfect, but he had potential and was capable of lifting a game. And offered us something different.
But I think once a player reaches two years out through injury, you have to assume his career is pretty much over, at least at the top level.

It does appear this injury was hugely mismanaged. Perhaps that is the benefit of hindsight - but wasn't there rumour of disagreement between the player and the club? We seemed to try and 'treat' the injury for most of the season, then decided he needed an operation over the summer that essentially ruled him out for a second season.

I think the main mismanagement came when Jose injured himself in the first game of the Would Cup, didn’t tell anyone, and they totally ****ed it while continuing to train.....

Delayed..... so more time is given for further easing of lockdown. How social distancing is going to be achieved at football beats me. If fans are spaced out how do they decide who attends matches/where do they sit/how do you control the concourses and toilets/travel to and fro. What about security frisking? Is that temporarily suspended? What about stewards on stairways...impossible to pass them 2m apart. To me, it has to be all or nothing. i.e closed doors or full attendance of fans.

He posts videos of him training every now and then on Insta so hopefully in with a shout of being ok for next season.

A real shame, possibly our most 'fun' player in the PL. Could cause panic in opposition defence, might just as easily shank it into the stands. I love that type of player.

So he had a 4 year contract. It means he will be out for the middle two of those years. (excepting a very small amount of football he played in autumn last season where he clearly wasn't ready).
It's not exactly clear that he's going to be back injury free for a full pre-season (assuming there will be one and he can get himself out of Columbia) in order to get himself ready for the start of next season.
Slightly separately, I'm not entirely comfortable with injured players being back in their home countries whilst injured. What's the point of paying for world class medical facilities and rehab / physio equipment and staff if the players aren't there to use them?
I'll hazard a guess it's because once all the 'work' has been done the key element to rehab is time.
So unless the medical facilities happen to be in a DeLorean it really doesn't matter where it's done.
As said though I'm only guessing and not fully qualified medical practitioner specialising in Sports Science.

I'm not fully qualified either, but it seems a bit improbable to me that all the staff and facilities in a category A training ground can't make a jot of difference over a two year period.
To me it's more probable that it's an issue of player power.
But you believe yourself to be qualified enough to comment on this twice.
