Really?

I was under the impression (and certainly my Fulham mate seemed to confirm it) that Riise was very visibly on the decline last season - along with several others on the team admittedly. Positionally found wanting time and again in a side that conceded an obscene amount of goals (the most in the league). Very good back in the day, but even at this level I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable about signing a player so clearly on the way out.

Would much rather we put all our efforts into getting Ward back.

Agree with this. Shirley we need to be signing players who can help us get to the PL and then who can give us a few seasons at top level rather than older players whose best playing days are behind them?
