One word. WAGES.

IF it were to happen we would only pay a % of his wages, highly unlikely this rumour it true though as has already been posted Lille want him and he's apparently part of Rodgers plans at Liverpool.

Cole is a step too far as opposed to Bridge

Do you know what, this really wouldn't thrill me. Do I know nothing?

Joe Cole is on 130k per week. Lille reportedly paid a third of that and Liverpool the rest. Are we going to pay over £2m in wages for a player for 1 season? Hard to imagine.

But there's a thread going about Jordan Rhodes upfront fee being £5mil before his wages, and some think that's OK. If £2mil in wages on loan gets us promoted it's not a bad investment

I must say, Cole looks very well suited to what Rodgers will presumably try to do with Liverpool. Surely he is going to want to at least have a look at what Cole can do before he perhaps moves him on in January if he thinks he no longer has the ability at that level.

seconds this. if it was a choice between Colle on loan or Rhodes perm I'd take cole on loan.

Can't compare wages over a single season with transfer fees. Once wages are paid, they're gone. IF we were to pay £5 million for any player (particularly a young player), chances are that we could recoup a fair wedge of that after a season if we wanted.

Much as I would love to see Joe Cole in the Blue and White Stripes I dont think that he would either score or provide sufficient goals for us to be virtually guaranteed promotion where somebody like Ricky Lambert would.

True, and I believe Rhodes would have a bigger, better effect over the season than Joe Cole anyway.
