I would be really sad to see him go but of all our top players he is the one I'd least be upset about. It would be devastating to lose Baleba, JPVH, Bart or Mitoma, they will be the ones other teams covet the most apart from Pedro & are an absolute must to keep.
Bart I disagree with you on. I'm sure hes a good guy but I reckon there are better Championship keepers.

I must be in the minority here but I'd be really sad to see Joao Pedro leave.

Provided we can sort whatever has gone on behind the scenes, I think he's got loads to offer.

Seasons are long, and he adds real muscle and movement to our forward line. I'm not sure we're in a position to dismiss a 10-goal a season striker yet. Especially one capable of playing the target man when required.

He's scored some HUGE goals for us and is a natural finisher.

I'm probably living in cloud cuckoo land, but I'd bloody *love* to have him and Mitoma in the squad next year.
Well said. I am in that minority too. Would much rather everyone kisses and makes up.

Pedro is top drawer on his day and I've loved watching him for us. Ice cold nerves, natural finisher as you say. Does so much work off the ball that doesn't get appreciated as well as assists, link-up and goal creation abilities. The sort of player who delivers in crucial league matches and cup ties when it matters. I can't celebrate him moving on at all.

A bit of that is sentimental as you kind of associate JP with the thrilling debut Europa campaign season. That Marseille winner at home is right up there in the all-time Albion memories.. iconic. If he wasn't our player now, you'd bloody love to sign him. But no player is bigger than the club and the (apparent) attitude issue is really disappointing. As usual, we'll probably never know the true story.

As a footnote, these player altercations, strops and strikes are happening a little too frequently (Trosssard, Sanchez.. now JP). What are we... the new Dutch national team at tournaments?

Right now we are a stepping stone club and some players are more impatient than others.

I agree re your thoughts on what Pedro has brought to the club, he has been a good player. That said I also think he is the star player we have most cover for so we could lose him without hurting the team as much.

I'd love him if only for the penalty in Marseille. Towards the end of the game, to get our first point, with all the noise (and the detail of watching the match through a load of netting sticks in my mind as well for some reason). Lovely.

I also remember a really good run the length of the pitch at the City Ground in that win last season towards the end of the game*. Didn't go anywhere but the effort at that stage stuck in the mind.

* I may have literally every detail of that wrong.

I know we are - you are completely right, but I really dislike that badge 'stepping-stone club'. It's not the most ambitious or inspiring of statements. We will need to hold onto some of our star players for more than two years if we want to keep progressing and maybe win something (to state the obvious). I guess that's where we've been so lucky with Mitoma (hopefully not cursed that!).

Back to JP.. I felt Fab unfairly subbed him off a lot, way too early in a lot of pre-Christmas games. JP looked visibly pi**ed off with this and you wonder if this is where the disgruntlement and impatience started? Timed with his Brazil call-ups, where admittedly he did appear to develop a slight 'charlie big-potatoes attitude' after. There's no excuse for having a punch-up with teammates though (caveat – facts unknown). Just feel sad really and I think we'll miss him a lot more than people realise.

That is literally the entire club model in a nutshell

They're all kind of different though. Trossard came back from the World Cup pissed off and wanting to leave, stropped around and got his wish. Sanchez was frozen out by a manager who didn't rate him after 18 months if being the clear number 1. And Pedro may not have an attitude problem at all but just be in a dark place right now.

Yeah all valid points.
Would rather a happier camp though. These types of flare-ups in training are probably quite common for all teams. Just don't hear about half of them.

I don't think we need to read too much into a training ground dust-up.
Pedro was always earmarked to be moved on this summer. The media have mentioned it several times in the past year.
He's also temperamental with a short fuse and possibly takes more effort to manage than other players.
I reckon an offer of £50m and he'll be departing. With the money invested in a couple of other promising young players.
It's what we do.

I'd be more worried if there weren't the occasional bust up. Who wants a team of passives? There's a time and a place, of course, but JPvH is widely known to have massively high standards in training, so it's would be unsurprising if he said something if levels drop

I didn't know that about JPvH. That's very encouragging to hear. I do like that kind of Roy Keane style, giving anyone within earshot a rollicking for not playing like it's a Champions League final on a Tuesday morning training session :ROFLMAO:

Looks like the agent has set the ball rolling. I would not be surprised if the source for Naylor's story was team Pedro either, no way the club would want that sort of thing reported or that an employee would risk their job by hanging the team's dirty laundry in public
Sounds about right.

I think the agent is now actively agitating for a move. Interesting that has given Romano a transfer fee.

In terms of our squad for next season and the No.9 position, we'll still have Welbz. Georginio was outstanding at No.9, albeit against Norwich. Ferguson might come good over the summer too.

Then there is the Greek duo of Tzatziki & Kalamata (if we manage to sign the later) who might turn out to be ready and a pitta alright.

I agree with you, apart from the fee. There's no way the Albion will accept £50 mill for a player they paid £30 mill for that has produced 28 Prem goals and assists in 2 seasons / 4000 minutes, who shone in Europe, who has broken into the Brazil side and for whom - according to reports - there is a bidding war between Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. Minimum fee £60mill.

Falmer, soon...
Our model seems to be that we should be selling 1-2 per year when close to their peak. Keeping the older players aside as seems to be the way and bar those on loan, I think the candidates are Igor, Mitoma, Estupinan and arguably Joao Pedro and Adingra
In terms of continuity, Estupinan would be a big miss as we don't have succession nailed at LB... The rest are potentially all up for sale for the right cash.
