Why would he remind Ivanovic that his booking means he misses the final. I'm not a fan of Chelski and all that it stands for BUT that was out of order, unnecessary and spiteful YOU COCK SHREEVES

As I said on the match thread
Sound bites? Sentimentality - the heroics of the player who played a part to the end, knowing he wouldn't be in the final? The Emphasis of how important the win is for chelsea, despite personal failings? An expression of the importance of teamwork over personal glory to help build to the final? An attempt to maybe get a fresh new hook to the post match reporting (he is meant to be a reporter, after all)
He [Ivanovic] should know that booking cost him his place, and as such asking him about it shouldn't be a surprise, and shouldn't spoil the moment. Honestly, they have just made the champions league final, that's a major achievement, especially given their season and the opponents, that such a question shouldn't spoil the moment for them.
Further to that, Geoff is a reporter, he has to get the story, get everything he can, and he has to ask about as many aspects as he can so that the company he is paid to do his job by get the footage/story first. If he doesn't ask, one of the reporters would in the mixed zone a few minutes later, and they'd have the story. He was doing his job and doesn't deserve criticism for it, imo.
He is that good a reporter he didn't,t even know if Ivanovic had been booked or not and had to ask the guy himself.
Seemed to me like he knew ivanovic was booked, it was just the way he asked the question. Even if he really wasn't sure and was checking (let's face it there have been cases of yellow cards being thought as being given to one player only to find out later it was given to another, so checking isn't really a ridiculous thing to do when he hasn't had a chane to get word from the officials at that point), it doesn't mean that my overall point is invalid.
I thought concentrating on the positives would have been the order of the day but he seemed far too keen to bring the guy down. Oh well.
Isnt Ivanovic more of an idiot for getting the yellow in the first place?
You've probably played football, as have I. In the heat and pressure of a match you are not thinking I can't get a booking you only have the interests of the whole team at heart and, sometimes, you take one for the team or just don't realise the full implications of your actions (stupid or not). Just thought the timing and phrasing of the question was really ignorant.

Which brings us back to my original reply. Ivanovic knew, telling someone something they already know isn't going to overshadow the major achievement that is this win, and as a reporter Shreeves sees the order of the day as covering every angle he has time for, not just to sycophantically drool over the positives.
He can't win. If he focuses on positives and getting all the "wonderful achievements, you guys were great" comments he gets criticised for being sycophantic, if he tries a more balanced approach he gets criticised for not being sycophantic.
Jeff Shreeves = orrible, slimey prick.
Chelsea have just achieved the unthinkable and the first thing he goes in with is negative journalism, typical british media and everything I hate about the papers, tv and all media sources. The fact he seemed to come accross very smug and pushed it, showed he quite enjoyed being a smug slime-ball that loves passing on bad news.
Yes Ivanovic should have known etc, but if he didnt....then to do that to him is shameful and embarrasing.
