Living In a Box
RIP the writer of one of the most iconic book of the 20th century "Catcher In The Rye".

Hardly a prolific writer however a true literary classic.

There was a mention of it in a paper very recently, can't remember which one.

A strange book. I am not quite sure why I enjoyed it so much. However, I did read it under the influence of marajuana 13,000ft up in the Cloudforest.

I remember reading that when I was 16 and loving it. Great book, I cannot say that I have read anything else by him though.

Sad, was a great American novelist. Has anyone read any other book with more "Goddams" and "sunnuvabitches" than that book?

Personally I didn't like the book, think it was too intellectual for me. I got the same impression with Joyce and Rushdie. Might give it another go.

I have a feeling Joyce is a little bit more complicated than Catcher in the Rye . Ulysses is far too complicated.

Read 2 others of his "Franny and Zooey' and "For Esme with Love and Squalor" neither had the same feel to them. Saying that 'Catcher' wasn't that amazing, I think it was the timing of the book that gave it it's notoriety.

Loved "Catcher in the Rye" as a teenager. Still regard it as a great book.
