I'd love to know what the plan is for him, and our other keepers. We have a lot of what would appear to be very talented young keepers who keep going out on loan. Personally I'd like to keep one of them here and possibly move Steele on albeit a good servant he's been to the club. I think back to Walton who was similarly lauded in his youth but never got a chance and spent half a career on loan before leaving.

We used to stockpile defenders now it’s goal keepers and wingers

Problem is young keepers need game time. If Bart remains a clear first choice then someone like Rushworth or Beadle is only going to get games in the cup. Much better for them to be learning their trade out on loan.

Steele is a capable backup who isn’t going to rock the boat about a lack of game time.

I disagree and suspect the club does too. Steele is the ideal back up keeper - he's a senior player, settled, respected and more than happy to fulfil the role of Premier League back up keeper. He's not the type to go angling for a move after every uptick in form.

Our backup keepers are battling to take Bart's spot when he moves on. That will happen some day and if either of the other two are ready for the top flight when a good offer comes in, they will get their chance.

I wonder out of Beadle, Rushworth and Scherpen, what pecking order the club sees for those 3?

Who would be deemed 1st, 2nd, 3rd.

Good move.

The way it’s looking at the moment, you’d have to think Beadle is the one with the long term future here as number 1.

Keep Verbruggen for another season, keep Steele as number two, loan out Beadle, sell Rushworth and Scherpen.

McGill or Cahill as third choice.

I’m not sure about that as it was Rushworth the club recalled to be Bart’s backup when Steele was injured at the start of 2025. To me that would suggest he is the more trusted at the moment to play in the Premier League if needed.

However things are complicated by noises in the media that Rushworth wants a permanent move away in search of becoming a first choice somewhere. Which considering he’s 24 in yet summer isn’t that surprising, that could mean Beadle has the better long term chances with us even if he’s potentially behind Rushworth right now.

What an earth is going on with Rushworth?!
His loan move to Hull City last season completely stunted his development. Surely Rushworth werent fancy another loan move next season.

Yes Rushworth might be more trusted at the moment but the point is there’s no vacancy at the moment and he’s not going to stay whereas Beadle is.

Is Beadle going to play for Birmingham? Looks like their keeper Ryan Allsop had a really good season with them last year.
Given how poorly many of our loans last year were placed, I fear he'll be spending another season sitting on the bench.
Talking to Blues fans this morning they assume Beadle is back-up to Allsop and possibly their cup keeper.

I’d be amazed if we loan out a player who’s likely to spend a season on the bench though, surely? He’d be better off going to League One and playing every week than sitting on the bench in the Championship.

Obviously he won’t be guaranteed a place in the team but I’d have though he must at least be in with a shout of being number one.

It will be so frustrating if this comes to pass. You'd have to question the decision making of the loans department if that's the case.
To be fair to the club, I'd assume they've talked to Birmingham City FC about this rather than Severnside Gull's mates.
