I'm sure Coppell is onto him, though if he's got offers from Premiership clubs then he'd be stupid not to take one of them.

According to his mate, Brighton Boy, Jake hasn't been offered a pro contract by us but is desperate to sign for the Albion. There's no evidence we've offered him any more than a scholarship.

It's about time Harty got Knight on the phone in and asked him what is going on with Robinson.
Or is Knight only concerned with how much compo he can get for him ?

Don't all young players sign scholarships and then the ones that get kept on sign a pro contract at the end of it, like Marney and McPhee etc?

Surely this is the same as a normal contract any of our Pro players sign, in that at the end of it they can sign for another club if they want?

The difference is that we have never had a player anywhere near this good at Jake's age. If we don't offer him a pro contract soon, as we can now he is 17, you can be sure that someone else will - whether the other club(s) are breaking the rules or not. Then we'll get a load of bullshit from Knight about not standing in Jake's way if he wants to go, when all Knight really appears to be interested in is making a fast buck out of Jake.

We are told by those who know him that Jake wants to sign for us, but an £80 a week scholarship for a player of his ability is crazy and says a lot about our chairman's priorities. I wonder if Knight has stopped to think how much Jake will be worth in 2-3 years when he's part of the international set-up.
