Its almost " Cider " season again

Ahhhhh... Thatchers.

The only worthwhile product that family has ever come up with.

Living next door, as I do, to Middle Farm (home of the pretentiously, but accurately, named "National Collection of Cider and Perry"), I am spoilt for choice.

They normally have over 200 different ciders in stock. Samples of most of them can be tasted free of charge before purchase.

Marvellous scenes.

I kicked off my season with a pint of Thatchers in Bristol after the game. Was advised by the locals to not have more than one though...

(I think Thatchers is 7½%) which is well OK, not too strong, but strong enough.

That suggests there is only one variety of Thatchers cider - that is not the case...

Used to drink a scrumpy in Exeter years ago called "rough" - and it bloody well was! The locals used to drink it (if at all) with blackcurrant, and you could trace people's journeys around the place from purple puke-patch to purple puke-patch... Cheap and very, very effective, though.
