unbeatble stuff.
Lord Bracknell said:Ahhhhh... Thatchers.
The only worthwhile product that family has ever come up with.
Living next door, as I do, to Middle Farm (home of the pretentiously, but accurately, named "National Collection of Cider and Perry"), I am spoilt for choice.
They normally have over 200 different ciders in stock. Samples of most of them can be tasted free of charge before purchase.
Marvellous scenes.
Where's Sonic the Hedgehog aka Apples when you need him?

I wasn't around yesterday, but I'm back now.
Definitely a 365 (or 366) day season for me.
And if I ever find the b*****d who nicked my Strongbow when I was in the pub on Sunday...

somerset said:Glad you mentioned Thatchers Lord Bracknell, how could I forget that beast of a drink, it is actually made in a village called Sandford, not 4 miles from where i live here in North Somerset, Bozza and Tony Le Mesmer would know where i mean and will both surely have tried it.
Real brain damage....
I expect you had a few reserve cans of Scrumpy Jack tucked away at Hedgehog House...
Sonic The Hedgehog said:Unfortunately not. These were my bottles I'd bought in the supermarket for home consumption.

I don't mean just a black plastic tub on the counter that is purporting to be real cider and it is, but it is often sour and clear and poor quality like many of the ciders that are left over at beer festivals.
The best cider pub I have ever been in is the Cider bar in Newton Abbott (Devon), a short walk from the station and a long walk back. the second best was the King's Head in Shoreham, closed in 1983 though. Even the Cider bar do not brew in wooden casks, but there are huge wooden casks behind the counter and I expect the cider is piped in. (On the grounds that the casks would be too big to lift up and down.)
The Full Moon in Brighton used to sell decent cider. Lots of pubs in Devon.
