I have never understood the bottle thing. I take in an aluminium flask, that is quite heavy and is shaped like a missile

This whole 'heavy' object thing is bollox, they would have to confiscate everything (Mobile phone, wallets ect) these would do far more damage than a silly plastic bottle.

Also, how is a bottle without a lid not heavy? if you threw a bottle that was full, without the lid on, not much if any would come out in the air.

A 50p coin is not a heavy object and is routinely let into football grounds.

I can tell you that is a bloody offensive weapon when its being thrown at you. It will indeed, have someone's eye out! Much more so than a bottle of water (or some other liquid).

and yes I know because I've been hit with both inside grounds (suprisingly at Leeds and cardiff!)

In the Eighties when watching England play Wales at Nininian park the England fans were penned in the ncentre bok behind the goal between two outer blocks of Welsh fans. The Welsh fans had been in the pubs since opening time and at half time were unable to access the gents. I can tell you that plastic bottles do not retain their contents very well when throuwn over a fence without a lid...................

I'm pleased to hear that, anybody that does not realize the danger should try treading on an empty plastic bottle with the lid screwed on, and then think of the possible effect on a crowd leaving the stadium down a steep staircase. I'm sure most people would dispose of their bottles safely if they realized the danger, maybe a little education would be more effective than an iron hand?

and if that's the reason why do they assume you will remove the cap if you buy it in the ground but are too dam thick to do this if you bring it in?

Down at the Goldstone my Mum was refused entry because she had a bottle of kettle de-scaler on her which my Gran had given her.

you forget that most of the world is full of f**king idiots.

there's plenty of education about safe sex and safe use of drugs and alcohol but look around you at the state of the place!

I can never undersatand why any litter is left anywhere. If it's easy enough to bring in, why not take it away again?

On Tuesday night at the turnstiles, my friend had her handbag searched and had an offending item confiscated by the steward.... a Dove roll on deodorant!!!!

Anybody else had weird stuff confiscated at Withdean?
The steward probably forgot to put any deodorant on .. or simply took shine to the shape of it!! The whole lid thing is quite ridiculous seeing as we have to sit half a mile away from the pitch!

Ha ha....... :lolol:

I would tell your friend never to bring her deodorant, or any other manor of prohibited items, into the Withdean in a bag. That's madness. :shootself

The other week I managed to smuggle my deodorant into the ground via my pocket. I had a good half time 'roll on' and then smuggled it back out again. All this without a steward even having a whiff that such a prohibited activity had taken place.

Tell her to put it down as a lesson learnt.
