I think you might be correct.

I have to say, when he was elected I was hoping that Trump could help end a number of conflicts around the globe but that looks like extremely poor judgement on my behalf. His 2nd Presidency has zero benefits despite my straw clutching that he might be able to do one positive thing.

In fact, the opposite is happening. Israel continue to bombard Gaza, seemingly unquestioned by Trump and MAGA. Russia has not engaged in any meaningful peace efforts with no effort to give Ukraine the firepower and arms to drive Russia out. And now Iran and Israel are on the verge of full blown war. The US might get drawn into this last one, I can see them trying to defend Israel then once Iran score a hit on them, they'll join in.

All of this was so predictable - I said back in November 2023 on the Gaza thread there was a long term agenda by Netanyahu and Trump to manipulate a situation in the ME that would give Israel and the US a casus belli to take out Iran’s nuclear facilities.

It didn’t take a crystal ball to see where this was heading back in 2018 when Trump made it impossible to work with Iran on nuclear non-proliferation.

So I'm not interested in the crimes of China and Russia? My word you make assumptions. I'm an anti imperialist and opposed to all oppression, that includes the above and the UK, USA, Saudi Arabia etc. As a Jew I have had no choice but to be aware of the crimes of Israel my whole life. And as a student and Teacher of History I don't have such a simplistic and Westander view of goodies and baddies and how a few bombs will make it all better.

Any criticism of the State of Israel is met with the "anti-semite" accusation is an attempt to shut down any criticism of the State of Israel. Nothing else.

There is no criticism of the Jewish race or the Jewish religion. As we have seen from two Jewish members of our community, and others of that race / faith who I have marched alongside in support of the Palestinians of Gaza, they do not support the actions of the State of Israel.

We must never conflate the State of Israel with those of the Jewish faith / race. Leave that to those who support the barbaric warmongering, and slaughter of children by the State of Israel.
