Who said I support Iran and don't support Israel? I actually began by saying Israel wasn't the name they were looking for (went over your head I suspect). I support Israel's right to exist, I oppose their right to inflict genocide on Gaza. I apply intelligence instead of blind dogma to situation. I prefer negotiations over vigilante actions. The JCPOA was keeping Iran from developing nuclear weapons until one of the most ignorant leaders the world has ever seen chose to undo the progress being made. Israel will never know peace by taking the paths Netanyahu is dragging them down. What a shame that ignorant people allow themselves to be blinded by their politics to what is happening in this world.

Oh, and I love Iran and the Iranian people the same as I do Israel and the Israelis. I hate the Iranian leadership as much as I hate Netanyahu.
A perfect response and this is how everyone should view the situation IMO. Let the leaders scrap it out, leave the innocent populations out of it.

So let’s list this down….

Hamas attacked Israel

Israel attacked Gaza

Hezbollah attacked Israel
Houthis attacked Israel

Israel attacked Yemen
Israel attackrf Hezbollah
Israel attacked Lebanon
Israel attacked Syria
Israel attacked Iran

Iran attacked Israel

Israel continues to attack Gaza
Israel takes hostages in international waters
Israel attacks Iran

Anyone notice the one name that keeps cropping up again and again?

FFS!

And more significantly, because there is none of that without US backing and arms sales to Israel - The name that keeps cropping up in connection to Netanyahu is Trump: 2 right-wing leaders propped up by extreme right wing factions, that were intent on staying in power to avoid corruption charges - there would be no escalation in the ME if it were not for Trump doggedly backing his Israeli buddy:

May 2018 - Trump abandons Nuclear deal with Iran which was absolutely crucial for monitoring Iran’s enrichment programme and working towards non-proliferation - feeds into Netanyahu’s 20 year old narrative for his domestic political platform that Iran is out to destroy Israel and he is the only Israeli leader who can protect Israel by going after their nuclear facilities.

2018-20 - Having torn up the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Deal Trump imposed increasingly harsher sanctions on Iran, crippling Iran’s economy and impacting areas such as medical imports, emergency relief and refugee assistance programs.

October 2020 - In response to staged protests against the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and the rocket attack on an Iraqi base that killed an American, Trump orders the assassination of Iran’s top general Qasem Soleimani second only to Ayatollah Khamenei - undermining moderates in Iran and any progress on non-proliferation. It sends ripple effects around the ME and brings the US and Iran to the brink of war.

January 2020 - Trump recognises Israel’s claim on West Bank settlements and Jerusalem as capital of Israel. Makes an ‘empty’ promise of a State for Palestinians but for the first time in decades of peace negotiations, fails to commit to a two state solution - envisages Israel retaining military control in some areas. Proposes Israeli-Palestinians be stripped of their Israeli citizenship and gives Palestinians a chunk of desert in exchange for 30% of the West Bank. Refuses the right of return to Gaza for Palestinian refugees.

October 2023 - present - On the UN Security Council, US repeatedly vetoes any ceasefire deal with Palestinians

May 2025 - US backs aid programme controlled by Israel to effectively starve out Hamas resulting in chaos, killings and over 2 million people on brink of starvation

All of this was so predictable - I said back in November 2023 on the Gaza thread there was a long term agenda by Netanyahu and Trump to manipulate a situation in the ME that would give Israel and the US a casus belli to take out Iran’s nuclear facilities.

It didn’t take a crystal ball to see where this was heading back in 2018 when Trump made it impossible to work with Iran on nuclear non-proliferation.

Isreal does not exist in a vacuum.

My word it's embarrassing being Jewish. As Israel has decided it is the mouthpiece for all the world's Jews and any criticism of its genocide, mass incarceration of the innocent without due process, carpet and targeted bombing of civilians, kidnapping of human rights activists in international waters, shooting of journalists, bombing of hospitals, bombing of schools, bombing of refugee safe havens, shooting of people waving white flags, hiring of drug smugglers to shoot famine relief users, stealing land, starving populations and using aid as a weapon, building military bases in neighbouring countries, bombing neighbouring countries, invading neighbouring countries, stock piling nuclear weapons, using sniper drones on civilians, bulldozing homes, removing the recognition of Arabic as an official language - is described as antisemitic. It makes you wonder what antisemitism is.

They know they can hide under Trump’s skirt, even if he doesn’t approve of this action
See my post above

If anyone doesn’t think Trump
snd Netanyahu have been on the same page for years then they need to look a bit more closely.

I don’t care what crap Trump feeds to the press about not wanting an attack on Iran.

Whose weapons and recognisance technology do people think are being used here? 70% of Israel’s arms are imported from the US. That’s a renewed commitment in 2016 ( the first year of Trump’s first term) of $38 billion to supporting Israel’s war machine through to 2028.

I’m not ‘embarrassed’ as such - I don’t conflate being Jewish with what Netanyahu is doing. It is a brand of very extreme Zionist thinking which the majority of Jewish people don’t subscribe to. I feel sad that Netanyahu is reducing Israel to a Pariah on the world stage.

The majority of Jews in Israel don’t want this because they recognise that Netanyahu is leading Israel down a very self destructive path.

I think the majority of people watching from the sidelines and on the global stage recognise this is primarily down to one corrupt leader who is backed up by Religious Zionists in his coalition that are keeping him in power.

Netanyahu was already dragging the State further towards a fascist style Theocracy with radical overhaul of the Judiciary and he was facing massive civil unrest - the attack on Israel in October 2023 and abduction of hostages came at an opportune time and saved Netanyahu’s political ar&e but he is unlikely to get another term which is why he’s pushing this now.

EDIT

Re NATO war in Ukraine- Trump’s gradual retreat from US involvement and funding/arms sales to Ukraine may well support the notion it’s because he has had his eye on engaging in a war with Iran or at least by proxy with Israel.

I'm wondering if you are still in agreement with this Labour Government allowing arms sales licenses to Israel for the purpose of "defending" itself, which you were even several months into the obliteration of Gaza and it's civilians?

Iran’s barbaric regime since 79 …. when they reinvented how women should live. Break the absurd dress code and they disappear forever. Raped by secret police then imprisoned and sometimes murdered. Sauce: human rights organisations and firsthand accounts by Iranian women who luckily escaped. A vile, murderous government, suppressing millions people.

The last thing sensible thinking people want is another North Korea with nuclear weapons. Only fascist Russia and China are on their side.

Not claiming to even begin to understand the whole Middle East debacle, merely a thought…

Trump has shown over Ukraine that he is only interested in ‘doing a deal’ on his terms that makes him look good. Is a consequence that Israel decided that waiting for Trump’s ‘peace talks’ would this be a waste of time and even make things worse for them, so they have acted pre emptively?

I have a horrible feeling that Trump’s abandonment of Ukraine and appeasement to Putin is going to have serious consequences globally and this may be the first of many

Great solution - drop bombs on people, fist emoji. Bombing rarely kills vile leaders, unless you believe Israel has managed to kill 20,000 Hamas fighters with its destruction of Gaza.
Do you advocate the bombing of Israel to stop the vile genocidal government filled with self proclaimed fascists in it?

Can I remind people to tread carefully as sadly some (former) posters who are opposedto free speech and debate monitor NSC and threaten to have the site closed because they have “friends who are lawyers as well as contacts at the Albion”…whatever that means.

I hope that really you are not embarrassed at being Jewish. Surely the same applies of anyone of any genuine faith or heritage.

Certainly no shame in being prepared to call out the atrocities of Israel and Netenyahu and others, as you consistently have done.

This.

There is no doubt Netanyahu has committed genocide and is using the worlds instability, insecurity and uncertainty to survive.

This thread will descend into the usual chaos of folks trying to put their sometimes blinkered points of view across and be closed shortly to prevent certain folks being offended and accusations of anti semitic opinions, when in fact most people have a balanced view.

It is a shame really, as it appears to me it ends up being a form of censorship by certain folks.
That my friends is a sad and dangerous path to go down, and boils my blood.
