His positioning and marking is simply not good enough.
2. He lacks physical strength and this is not because of his age.
3. He lacks conviction in his own play. He never looks like he is convinced he is going to beat someone or win a tackle and subsequently he rarely does.
4. He cannot head the ball.
5. He has poor concentration and often leaves players unmarked because he is ball watching.
6. He is a bit to prone to poorly timed tackles because he is slow to react to situations.
7. He gives the ball away far too much with a prime example being the home game against Swindon in the play offs when they scored their second goal.(QUOTE)

Have you got any positive comments to make?
Perhaps as you are the star player in the Hull Uni team you might pass some tips on to Dan.
Of course he was at fault for both Millwall goals but Dobie and Ifill are good players. He knows he was at fault. I don't do my job any better when I'm moaned at , do you?

For fucks sake.

I do not moan at players at games and all I have done is give the reasons that waterhall wizard wanted in order to justify my own opinion.

I am not one of these people who says Harding is shit and not even non league standard. Just that he is not playing well and I do not think he is up to this standard.

I have also never said I am better then him or anything like that so why you feel the need to say 'as you are the star player in the Hull Uni team...etc' because it just makes your argument look weak.

How about a few reason why he is so good then? We are all dieing to know.

ok, can't be arsed to read what you all have said.

but, i reckon:

harding is SHITE, but i'd love it if some stupid big club pay us money for him.

hinshelwood is potentially one of the BEST players we have ever produced.

i saw (before i got bored of reading), the large one, say hinshelwood was crap. now, i have ALWAYS thought the large one was a WANKER so, even if he was joking, he OBVIOUSLY still is. To be fair most people called ALAN are. How do I know he is called Alan? because people always say 'that WANKER, alan, really pisses me off.'

night night.

Is Dan Harding the most cruely maligned player in Albion history?

From this thread he's starting to make Mark Farington look like Peter Ward

shocking

and WRONG

he is no the worst player ican remember by any means, but he is CERTAINLY the most overrated i can remember.

the only other player i can remmeber aparently having this many clubs looking at him is zamora.

i know nogan apparently had liverpool looking at him and whilst i was never his biggest fan, he did at least do something right (score) sometimes (before his last 20 games for us, obviously).

Whatever else, he's not someone to crow about it being "goal of the season", when it plainly wasn't.

Yep, can't argue with that.

But if Leon Knight could finish as well as Dan Harding did that day, NSC would currently be a much happier place :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

What's sad about all this is the almost complete lack of Albion fan bonding with Dan Harding - inevitably called 'Harding' rather than 'Dan' - or some matey nickname like most of the others.

It's amost as if people are taking some perverse delight in seeing him elevated beyond his actual capability.. almost wishing to see him get his comeuppance.

That's not fair, imho. He's probably a decent enough bloke, but things are swirling around him that are beyond his control. In other words, very little is his fault. So why don't we just support him all the while he wears the stripes, be pleased for him when the big payday arrives, and then wish him well.

Have to say, I don't think he's all that good either, really. But that's no reason to sneer and undermine his confidence, is it? How will the team and the club gain anything from that?

So I say, let's get behind Dan, talk his price up, and send him on his way with a little more self-belief. That way we all win.

Rant over.

Wahey. Some sense.

Whether Dan is good enough to play at a higher level is irrelevant. If he gets the opportunity to he should go for it.

You've got to strive to better yourself all the time. Who is Richie Morris to suggest Harding would regret a move?

Even if Dan does move and doesn't make it at a higher level so what? At least he wouldn't have to live with the regret that he never tried. You have to test yourself at the highest possible level. He's a young player and none of us are in anyway qualified to guess his potential.

To suggest that he should accept he's rubbish and forever be in the debt of Brighton & Hove Albion is rediculous. Dan Harding's life as a proffesional footballer has peaked and he may as well pack it all in because Richie Morris said so. :dunce:

It can't be that hard to support a Brighton lad in a Brighton shirt playing in the second tier of Engllish football can it?

If dear Daniel is such a charming, thoroughlly decent chap, then why won't he sign a contract?

Signing a contract didn't stop Darren Currie from moviing. It just brings in more revenue for the Albion if a player is under contract. Having said that because Dan is young we'll get something anyway.

Not signing a contract doesn't make him uncharming, or not decent! I know plenty of IT Contractors who move on every 6 months to get more money. They're all good people.

and that is the key.

we won't get AS MUCH if he doesn't sign which to my mind fully justifies my abuse of him at games (oh yeah, and the fact that he is RUBBISH!) :)

Dan Harding has been flippin poor all season (and I never understood the interest much before this one). I've never known so much (supposed) interest in an Albion player where the fans were left as bemused as this regarding why. Not only the cynical ones but the rose tinted ones too (if they're honest). A very unusual situation for fans across the Albion spectrum to be confused by speculation that seems totally disproportionate to ability.

Even after his basic mistake put us 1-0 down Cullip and (mostly) Butters were still telling him and pointing him to where he should be, over and over. Hence McGhees comments about the training field. The lad wasn't at the races. Wasn't only his poor performance at the back. Going forward he had two chances in space to deliver some sort of ball or drive forward, both times he delivered lazy first-touch looped aimless balls into the box high and at no-one inparticular.

Either his head is full of other teams or his confidence is shot. Either way, rest him and work out the problem. We cannot afford to carry anyone in any position, just to keep some sort of shop window open. Every point is vital and we should have got something on Saturday.

It's not only Dan, we carried Claridge as well. He gave us no more out there than a young rookie couldn't have.

GET OFF HIS f***ing BACK!!!

IF WE HAD PEOPLE WHO COULD PUT THE BALL IN THE NET WE WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT DEFENDERS MAKING MISTAKES.

He is a young 20 odd year old who constantly gets slated by fans and press alike.....what sort of manager publically blames a single player for losing a game... If I were Dan harding, I would say f*** THE LOT OF YOU

I for one hope he goes to a club that appreciates his age and lack of experience and nurtures him into the player he shows at England U21 level that he is.

Absolute rubbish. Being a team fighting relegation we should be more worried about not conceding goals than scoring them. Negative maybe, but that's how it is. Dan is OK, not great but OK. And yes, I do think he is the most overated player in history. But noone is allowed to criticise him because his parents come on here. You should all be ashamed of yourselves, you nasty, cruel people.

So therefore to use your argument, if we didn't score any goals a season and didn't let any in, we would get what 46 points in the season...and we would go down! Good logic.

Football is all about winning games....defenders will make mistakes...the first goal on saturday was an inch perfect pass into the winger, who Dan missed....ok..he put his hand up...the second goal was tremendous skill by a player who would walk into our team....we have seen leon and many others skin full backs ...it happend..

He doesn't do these things on purpose.

If McGhee doesn't like him then DROP HIM!!! but of course he wont drop him as he is having to put him in the "shop window" its blatently obvious
