Ever since our disasterous performance in the World Cup i seem to have completely lost the passion and ability to care about our National team.

This has happened after almost every single failure i have had to endure supporting England but not to this extent.

Dont get me wrong i have not lost my passion and patriotism for England, i just no longer wish to channel this through the football team.

I didnt bother watching the recent friendly, i dont give a shit about the qualifiers and i couldnt care less that the lack of youngsters coming through.

I will stress that this is simply a view i have on the ENGLAND FOOTBALL TEAM ONLY

Does anyone else feel like this though??

If abject failure and smashed dreams are an issue...why support Brighton?

Not sure why people are still talking about the World Cup, who cares now? It's back to what really matters, club football

The world cup was a great shame but I'm over it, going friday to lend my support the lads

Agreed. You have to have the lows to appreciate the highs in football. And as Albion fans some people on here really do expect too much from England I feel. Not excusing the WC but that's my opinion. I wouldn't care if England were as good as Wales for example, I'd still be there supporitng every game.

Its not the failure that angers me its the "i dont give a f*** because im on 100 grand a week mentality"

Despite constant assurances from the players that they do indeed care im of the mindset that talk is cheap im afraid.

Anyone who believes that these high profile players care like they should care are sadly deluded.

I'm excited by seeing the likes of Milner, Johnson and Hart (who currently seem like decent chaps who want to succeed) coming through and only wish we had some more talent at the back to get Terry out of the side.

A fairly pertinent topic given the European Qualifiers get underway in two days time.

Would you prefere the transfer rumour binfests we've recently had to endure?

This World Cup was just one disappointment too many for me though, Sheebs. I REALLY thought we'd do something with that set of players and Capello at the helm.

Never felt this disinterested in England games before. Ever.

I'm sure it'll come back to me but may take some time.

Interesting point and one to an extent I agree with post this WC - Especially after watching that Gazza's Tears documentry which showed how proud the likes of Linekar, Gazza and Butcher were to wear the shirt - Butcher punching walls in the changing room etc cos he was so fired up... However I wouldn't like to group the WHOLE England team / squad into this 'not caring' theory. I believe there are some who do really care. I actually believe Rooney and Terry are two players who do really care but that is my opinion and others won't agree. It's also difficult to tell who really cares without actually knowing the players personally if you understand what i'm saying.. I don't often believe the media when they make out certain players are bastards so it's difficult to tell...

Watching England friendlies isn't something that appeals to me at the best of times, but my indifference to them currently knows no bounds.

I do know what you mean - and i've endured the heartbreaking disappointments since 96 myself. I just buried my head when we lost to the krauts and deliberately ignored the media stuff / NSC to an extent as it frustrates and annoys me. I do think it was one of those things and I had high hopes under Capello too.

PS - If Lamps goal had been given we'd have won the WC :fishing:

I will be at Wembley on Friday for the Bulgaria home qualifier then off to Switzerland by train on Sunday (via Paris). Looking forward to Switzerland as England away is always a good trip even if the football is sh*t!

Its amazing how England and still a top draw for teams, the game in Switzerland is sold out at £50 a ticket, yet the Wales game in October is only £25 yet tickets on general sale in Switzerland! Not sure why after all these failures people still want to see us play! Is it the Premier league and dont most people relaise that its full of foreign players not great English players??

I like the world cup, it gives England fans a reality check every 4 years that their Gods are not as good as they think :lolol:

I lost the passion when Sven was in charge and I've never got it back. The better the team we are playing the harder I find it to get enthusiastic as I just know we're not gonna do ourselves justice and are gonna end up looking like non leaguers playing a decent league team.

The England football team are the ultimate letdown in sport, guaranteed to piss you off massively by the end of a tournament. Makes it worse that the players don't seem to give a shit.

Whilst i agree with you to a certain degree i would have to change Gerrard for Rooney in terms of passion and commitment.

Rooneys nonchalant performance against Albania was beyond human comprehension. He didnt give a shit and that comment he made after the game reference the England fans booing, suggests he is no longer able to relate to the fans.

The reason for this is none other than money. Coupled with the fact that these top players enjoy a lifestyle so far adrift from reality that they couldnt possibly understand what it means to us mere mortals.

It's a brave new era now for England and I feel most people are right behind them. Lets hope a near capacity audience on Friday can roar them on their first steps to Euro 2012.
