It is one of those things that bemuses me. How can the septics (and us) moralise on another country having nukes, when we have them ourselves? Who gave us the right to say "we can have them, but not you?

If we are that worried about nuclear proliferation, why don't we get rid of ours? We are never going to use them!

And as for people saying "get in there and invade/bomb them back to the stone age" , well that has worked just fine and dandy in Iraq hasn't it! All it would do is stoke up even more anti-western feeling in the area and escalate the terrorist problem.

it is difficult to moralise on a country that is apparently committing the same crime as us. but religion is nutty. you simply can't trust someone who derives their morals from a book, written thousands of years ago, open to wildly different interpretations, acting in the will of allah, and not caring too much about dying in this life as it only gets them faster to their infinite virgins in heaven.

when iran grows us (and adopts a secular government), it can have the big toys.

I think we should bomb any state who`s leader pays more attention to his life in the next world than he does in the present one. Dangerous people who must not be allowed nucleur weapons........................... bomb the bastards.
Surely the argument is deciding who the dangerous people are ? Is a right wing religious half wit in charge of the US more lunatic than a religious fundamentalist in charge of Iran ?

It would be totally unthinkable to nuke Iran. I really don't want to have to settle for inferior Russian caviar, I have a taste for the Iranian beluga which is far superior.

I dont think we should nuke them but military action will be the prefered choice very soon - though we might leave it to Israel so that they get the stick.

I was totally against the Iraq war but this is a different problem. We could carry on talking though for a few more years perhaps until full enrichment is completed.

As for the arguement that because we have nukes then they have a similar right - well thats mad. These countries go from stability to unstability in weeks. Not sure the present leader is stable at all though.

and they may well be a ancient civilisation Lord B but they are funding terroism and that is a fact this time not a sexed up document that so many fell for last time. Syria hardly complained about the recent Israeli air strikes - I wonder why.

On NSC for over two decades...

What has funding terrorism got to do with it? The U.S. has been funding various terrorist groups for years (including one lot who used to think it was fun blowing up English pubs) and we haven't had a war with them in centuries.

So there you go then...lets nuke the USA!!!:clap2::clap2: It would make us popular with the middle eastern states, therby reducing the threat of terrorism at a stroke!!

Have the US government ever funded the IRA. I must have forgotten that admission. Maybe some of their misguided citizens did and maybe that is what you are getting confused over.

Maybe I missed the bit in Curious Orange's post where he typed the word government?

2 points:

1. Aren't problems like Iran precisely why the United Nations was created?
2. Militarily, haven't we got enough to think about with Afghanistan and Iraq?

Iran is one of the world's great civilisations. Its culture is world culture.

And there are people who want to destroy it because they don't much care for the leader it currently has?

Unbelievable.

Dont much care for their leader ? Lord B stop being silly. I didn`t much care for flairs or Cadburys Smash. This man is a big big danger.
