No choice?

Are there no other lefts backs in the World? I must have missed that story.

We have ANOTHER taker. :thud:

If you read back to page one, you'll find that your attempt at sarcasm is about as well targeted as the last bloke's.

Why don't you go and vent your frustration at the radiator or something? Or here's a novel idea...post your OWN thoughts instead of just taking the piss.

Why don't you thicken your skin and then realise that there's a point to gritt23's post? Why don't you answer his QUESTIONS? Why do we have no choice but to sign Matty Richards?

Is there some new coaching manual out that says left backs are redundant?

We've released 3. Ipswich have released 2. Any others being thrown out of their clubs?

Ok I will answer his questions, just for you...

1) Obviously there are other choices, but Richards is the best one at our disposal and he knows ALL of the players etc.

2) Yes, yes there are

Why is Richards the best at our disposal? He may have been the best left back we had on loan/trial recently but who says there arent other options? MA will have his own thoughts and lets wait and see. There are several left backs and we wont struggle as hard to get a GOOD left back as we have strikers.

Richards was loaned out last season......harding was kept at the club-that infers that Harding was deemed to be better by the Ipswich management team. Perhaps he would be a better buy?

Having seen Ipswich quite a few times I'd say that both Billy Clarke and Gary Roberts would be very good signings.

That counts for nothing now though. Richards was a Wilkins player and we have no idea if Mickey would be interested in him even if the player wants to move here. I would love to sign Matty but the change of manager has reduced the chances of that happening.
at last someone who thinks our transfer targets might have changed due to a change of manager !

no doubt wendy wanted him but how does anyone on here know that micky does?

all said i'd rather have harding out of the 2 though

Well, thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to answer my question, and if I may be so bold, I'll offer further thoughts (of my own).

I really don't think "knowing all the players" has much to do with anything. Wilkins knows them all, but I don't want him playing in midfield.

As for him being the "best at our disposal" he may be, but I wouldn't be as sure as your post suggested. Last time Micky showed up he pulled numerous players out of the hat that I hadn't particularly noticed were around, but he had.

We may sign Richards, but I think we are just as likely to see a player show up who Micky has come across at Coventry or Leicester from his time there, who has become available. Players who have got promoted out of this division before, or have performed at the level above .... that's what we saw from Adams last time, and what I think he'll look for this time. That would include Richards, but it's not an exclusive club.

Harding may well have been retained by Ipswich last season, but that may mean nothing. One managers opinion is not always correct, and certainly not the same as other managers. With Richards, I'm going by what I saw of him last season. And what I saw was a solid left back who not only defends well, but can also attack and take players on. Going on his performances for us last season, and the fact that he knows our club well, I think we'd be MUGS not to buy him!

Ipswich have put all five in the shop window and have invited offers. Doesn't suggest to me that they have progressed very far with talking to us. Also suggests that we might have to fight to get his services.
