I use Safari on my Mac, much faster and better than IE in my view. No idea which side of the fence MYOB will fall here though...

Its better than MacIE, but its let down by the relative weakness of KHTML and the total wimpiness of KJS - Google's new mapping service doesn't support Safari due to KJS not meeting the standards for JavaScript

On the Mac, you have 4 pretty decent Gecko browsers - Mozilla, Firefox, Camino and Netscape. You've also got OmniWeb, which uses KHTML but IIRC uses its own JavaScript engine.

Thanks, I'll just go and get my English translator...

Firefox (and Thunderbird) user here. Main gripe is that is doesn't always seem to render page correctly. Betfair is the main one I can think of, I end up having to scroll sideways because for some reason it doesn't stick the righthandside frame in the right place (puts it too far right!).

I will get in before MYOB. Report it to the Firefox people - they are looking to update all the time.

Firefox and Thunderbird user for some time now. I would never go back.

Pisses me off when arrogant sites tell me I'm not using IE so they aren't going to let me in.

Haven't played Yahoo Pool for ages now for that very reason.

But at work using IE reminds me how shit it is. I wish my company would pick up on the fact that Firefox rules.

I hate browsing the seagulls site and being constantly told to buy Dell computers or a Teletext holiday.

FIREFOX is simply SUPERB !!

Just like Ms Jane Hawkins, a BIG Friend of Sheepcote Valley AND, by her fantastic contribution last Friday, the Albion's.

Mr White, Lewes DC's Barrister, has now changed his name to "PUTRID GREEN" !!

 Back again. Watch out FG !!!

You've identified the problem here: there are sites out there that simply dont/wont work in Firefox. Until there is either widespread support for Firefox or Firefox becomes "IE Compatible", then companies wont drop IE.

It is moving in that direction with fewer sites blocking Firefox, but theres still along way to go. I actually dont want to see a world of only Firefox only either as that would be just as bad as the IE world, at the end of the day the browsers should conform to the standards not the other way round. Ironically, the thing that will fix the current mess will probably be IE7 as its bound to break IE6 sites.

I use Safari on the Mac, which I prefer to the others I've tried of the above list.

However, it does have some problems. It's useless at displaying the smilies on this site, and grinds to a halt whenever loads are on screen at once. (i.e. in the 90th minute of each match). Apple really need to sort this out.

Firefox is alright on the Mac too. I've been putting it on the Windows (NT!) machines here where I work as well.

I changed to Firefox yesterday to try it but I am having a problem with font sizes.
As I wear glasses for computer work I want the font size to be a minimum of 10 but every site I am going to is different despite having requested that in Tools.

I don't have that problem with IE.

It is IE that is incompatable. People are misinformed, IE does in fact render web pages incorrectly and it is Firefox that does things properly. MS need to bring their browser inline.

Because 90% of the worlds population use IE its very easy to blame Firefox.

I use both browsers, but I am slowly finding that things do not work correctly in IE but work in Firefox when I design webpages which means better and safer webpages for all.

MS are going down hill there profits fall every year while Linux community and Mac keeps growing because people get fed up with viruses and MS bullying tactics.

On Linux there is a programme to run Microsoft Applications called Wine or Crossover Office, but now the bullies @ Microsoft have decided to block users from free updates even thou they purchased the original software. This is doing Microsoft more harm than good. I have been to a lot of forums where people are just pissed off about this and are now downloading Open office instead.

A problem i have with Firefox is that it will never download an applet thingy for web based chatting or for viewing movie clips. It says it's downloaded and need to restart Firefox but never works.

No, its *pages* that are incompatible really. IE isnt as bad as some would have you believe. But as you say 90% of browsers are IE so thats what people design (or rather dont) their pages to fit in with. If people kept pages simple there wouldnt be a problem with any browser.

IE's inability to do proper PNG-24 bit transparency really annoys me. My website conforms to all the WWW standards, but I have to use a hack to make IE display it properly.

I switched over to Firefox as I was having loads of problems with the "About Blank" Worm/virus - you don't get your web pages hijacked on Firefox.

I have since cured (most of) the "About Blank" problems and tend to flip between both Browsers now. I like the tabs on Firefox but some sites seem to connect better on IE (May be my perception).
