It managed to get loads worse by the time i went to bed last night. Now at work with a sore throat and a disgustingly runny nose, urhg! Wish i could take the day off to go and sit and eat ice cream but need two days of at the end of next week and if boss lady sees me working through the illness it is more likely. The things you do for all day benders eh?

Echineacea and Garlic capsules usually nip mine in the bud. You can get them at Holland & Barrett, Sainsbury's etc.

Don't go to the gym - you need to give your body a chance to fight off the infection. For the same reason, give yourself a couple of nights off from alcohol and late nights in smokey pubs

Spot on Lush.

Sweating does help to get rid of a cold but do it at home by wrapping up extra warm in bed and even use a hot water bottle (I know it's too hot at present)

Scientists have proved the cold virus doesn't like hot temperatures which is why your body tries to run a temperature as a method of fighting it off.

If you have a sore throat gargle with salt water.

Easy one this.. Go to local GP tell him you feel 'washed out' and 'under the weather' and he'll sign you off work for two weeks... Well it worked for me today. Result!

"sweating out" at the gym has to be the biggest wives tale ever. You go to the gym it will be made 10x worse, as your body will have to recover from the exercise aswell as fight the disease.

Rubbish.

Galen, (who was taught by hippocroties) belived and wrote 60 books on a thing call the four humours. I wont bore you with details but basicly he belived in opposites.

If you are cold, sit by a fire or exercise.
If you are hot, sit in a cold bath etc.

Galens books were used for over 1500 years, in fact way up untill the renaciance (sp?).

So he had a pretty good idea what he was talking about...

This history lesson was bought to you free by biscuit.

P.S Galen's teacher was hippocraties. Hippocraties did so much for the medical world doctors and nurses today have to take the "hippocratic oath"...nough said.
