not necessarily win, but look like a team who cares and plays some good football, will it stop you going to home games?

I really worry that the way things are going we are just gonna keep getting lower and lower crowds, or have we reached rock bottom already and are down to the hard core of fans who will continue to go regardless of the fare on offer.

Personally, winning is far more important to me right now than entertaining. I would much rather grind out out a dire 1-0 win than watch a thouroughly entertaining 4-3 defeat.

Entertaining is great when you're near the top of the league and flying, but right now, nah.

I'm cutting back already. I decided to boycott the Cheltenham and Hereford games if Virgo continued to start in midfield. I bought tickets for the next three matches but decided to take the same stance again if Virgo was in midfield against Hereford, so I'm not going to Huddersfield either.

Well I've got a season ticket so it will have to get quite bad before I start skipping home games. Already have not gone to Leeds and Hartlepool as with distance and cost it is not currently anywhere near worth it.

I would forget the entertainment value and settle for. until Christmas at least, a run of 1 - 0 wins at home and 0 - 0 draws away and get some points on the board.

As things stand at the moment if I've got any money for football I'd rather give it to my nipper to go and watch Chelsea than waste it on tickets for Withdean, At least he'll get some entertainment for the money.

Entertainment has never been the reason for me paying to watch Brighton. It is loyalty pure and simple. Entertainment, when it happens is a bonus. When I get a nipper I'll make sure he / she grows up with same philosophy. BRIGHTON 'TIL I DIE!

I have a season ticket, but have already stopped going to away games until the performances get better.

If poor football was going to stop me from watching the Albion I would have given up in 1963. I'm not a STH but I go to most home games and a few aways each season and I will continue to do so until ill-health or physical incapacity prevents me.

Being part of the hardcore who would watch come what may still doesn't prevent me from seeing that the 10,000 new fans that we need in order to finance the Falmer loan is only going to happen if we're, a) in a higher division, and b) playing more entertaining football.

Quite. But on a purely economics front, you could save much more by not buying a ticket to Withdean than you could by, say, switching energy suppliers. You could still follow the Albion, consider yourself a supporter, turn up to half-decent games, take your chances on a ticket for the 'glamour' games, follow the rubbish games on CEEFAX or SCR.

My point is, it's not a performance thing anymore. It's an economic thing. 25 quid is a helluva lot to piss up the wall for something which is supposed to be a fun leisure thing but feels more like a moral duty. Come a SERIOUS recession, it's going to be the FIRST thing to go for a lot of people. And rightly so IMHO. Them's the harsh facts.

Thank you for your considered comment, add to the price of a ticket at least a half a tank of fuel to make the 300 mile round trip from home to Withdean and you have a very expensive day out...with the credit crunch biting hard there are priorities far higher than watching the Albion play (such as putting food on my plate and keeping a roof over my head), regardless of the quality of football on offer, that said I still go to most away games that are within 100 miles of home.

I really cant say at the moment.

I have certainly no inclination to go to away games at all.

I have a st, so I am obliged to go and that is the way I see it at the moment, even though I have paid for the tickets, I think I will pick and chose the games I go to after this week.

I agree with most of that but go to all home league games biut must admit to being picky about cup games and have missed the JPT due to the cost of buying that and Derby tickets at the same time and making a choice of which I preferred. Will do the same if we beat Derby with the JPT and FA Cup.

I havent been to a JPT game for a couple of seasons now.

I tend to think if I am going to have to pay for a game it will be one where hopefully be a decent game...ie M City, Derby, maybe leeds if we get through.....but I am 50/50 about Hartlepool in the FA
