A blind trust doesn’t change who owns the club.

The blind trust means a trustee is appointed to run the club. Under the terms of the blind trust the owner has no say or control in how the club is run or how money is spent etc. the trustees run the club as they see fit. The owner is no longer a director and doesn’t sit on the board while the club is in a blind trust.

Anything else would be fraudulent, which is why him running onto the pitch to argue with Nuno a few days after the blind trust became official was a rather silly move.

Because Olympiacos have qualified for the group stage of the Champions League there is no longer a need for the blind trust to be in place so the Forest owner has ended it as is his right.

Since he always had the right to end the blind trust, he effectively always controlled it.

If it's that easy to avoid the issue, why hasn't Palace done the same?

UEFA have sensibly given themselves a month to sort out a fix for this.

With their influence at UEFA, the Premier League are just too big and powerful to have one of their members excluded.

But as you rightly allude to, the 'solution' to Palace's Europa participation is going to be a fascinating read. Palace have taken a gamble by briefing a lot of the UK media that there is nothing to worry about, but I think that almost helps UEFA with the ruling as most people expect a favourable outcome for Palace.

A modest financial fine for missing the 1st March deadline will surely be the outcome at the end of the month.
The situation with the Irish League was complicated by the fact that no other team in that league applied for the UEFA license required to play in Europe before the deadline passed, so once Drogheda were kicked out, there wasn't anyone left who could replace them.

The Premier League will have numerous clubs which will have that license and could step in, Wolves included

He controls the blind trust, he doesn’t control the club while it is in the blind trust. It’s a commonly used business practice, any club owner who used one fraudulently would be risking a ban from future UEFA competitions (the very thing they are trying to avoid in the first place) and worse because the trust is registered with Companies House.

Palace could use the blind trust model but their ownership structure would make implementing one very difficult.

Also UEFA have already rejected a Palace offer to explore the option of putting Textors shares into a blind trust because they’ve missed the March deadline.

Have Uefa actually said they have taken a month or just that a decision will be made before 30th?
