As others have said, almost the poorest, more amateurish part of it all is the time between 1st March and the last couple of weeks - months, in which they could've contacted UEFA to make sure ducks were in a row etc.

It seems this didn't happen, and it looks awful from the outside for a Premier League club.

Legally if EUFA let them in are they open to Legal proceedings if a club felt so inclined i wonder....

Maybe Forest would want to be in the Europa League and not the Conference.... for example.

Absolutely this. They should have been working on this the second the final whistle blew in the FA Cup final. Yet it seems they did nothing until a couple of weeks ago.

This is why the whole 30% thing that, is apparently, a UEFA rule doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If you have any voting rights, then you have influence. Because there is always the possibility that in a close vote, you might make the difference.

This is the position I’m in. The default option is “they’re in”, so UEFA could dismiss everything right now and they’ll play in Europe. Yet they don’t, and don’t seem to be rushing to do so. If I were a Palace fan (and ignoring all my other troubles of living in a shit town, lack of intelligence and general ugliness) I’d be concerned.

Just spoke to someone in London, claiming to be a Palace fan with a loose friend connection to Parish. He says they are genuinely worried. They went into the meeting thinking they could just demonstrate easily that there was no conflict and came out of it with a "flea in their ear" and real concern that UEFA will strictly apply the rule.

Probably all brinkmanship, but sounds like they do have a very serious concern now.

Amazing that they appear to have thought they could rock up, say sorry and explain that it's not really a problem old chap. Amateurs.

That last bit seems fairly easy to comply with. Shareholders are quite often not involved with "management, administration or sporting performance "

Certainly last time I spend millions of pounds buying a share in a football club, I insisted all the money I put in be given straight to charity and then I changed my phone number so the other owners couldn't contact me about anything even if they needed to.

Nobody ever believes me when I tell them this for some reason.

It isn't though. 1st March was the deadline, the finish line, the date everything had to be done by. It wasn't the start date to put ducks in a row, the ducks needed to be packed and ready to go.

I can only think that Beaky is running the ‘but we are only a small inexperienced club’ defence. Rules are rules but whether they can be granted special dispensation for general amateurish preparation is another matter.

This is just objectively very funny. I am not heavily invested in the outcome, I am just revelling in the discomfort and embarrassment that Palace are enduring right now. I'm not sure UEFA could credibly allow them to take part without damaging their already shaky reputation.

Whatever happens the Palace boardroom is a mess and I suspect there will be a nasty fallout from this as the finger pointing starts.
