Yes as said by another poster already, however there have been loads of quotes saying palace may be disqualified, if so in which case no-one has suggested they would go into the other competition. Maybe the FACup winners can only qualify for the Europa League? Otherwise why was anyone thinking it could be a lifeline of sorts?
They maybe disqualified from the Europa league, not European competition altogether, the only reason being because of a potential conflict of interest between them and Lyon being in the same competition. You say 'maybe the FA Cup winners can only qualify for the Europa League' and I therefore challenge you to find evidence to back that up. Sadly, the optics are that Palace prevented us getting into Europe by winning the cup (and by christ aren't they going to milk it) but in my view it was down to that clown Attwell and his sidekick Gillet who should have sent off Henderson!!!!

As much as my sides would totally split if it happened, I'd feel that we had 'made' Europe by default. That's not how I want us to do it, and despite my inherent dislike for Palace, I truly would feel a little sorry for them. Not much...just a little....but let's do it on merit, rather than on the failings of an incompetent wealthy owner.
Agree with all this.

Especially the bit about side splitting.

But it’s not about how they are run, it’s about their owner holding shares in another club in the same competition so conflicting interests? If they were in the conference there would be no confliction

It will depend on if UEFA have changed the rules. It used to be the multi club ownership applied to any clubs in European competition because there was the possibility of clubs dropping into the lower competitions during qualification and at the end of the group stage. Now that only applies during the qualifying rounds UEFA may have a different set of rules depending on where clubs enter their competitions.

Promote them to the CL 😂

Didn’t we have the same issue going into Europe and Bloom adjusted his shares with USG and all was then fine? Same will happen here serious straw clutching the best we can hope for is they draw someone like Fernerbache away so they can school their pound shop ultras
The difference is that Bloom proactively resolved the situation before UEFA's deadline.

Palace/Textor didn't.

But, yes, I'm sure it will all be fine regardless.

Does Selhurst Park come up to spec in UEFA's eyes ???
Perhaps someone could inform UEFA, what an antiquated shit hole it is.
Then we'll have a shoe in, eh.....!
At least they won't have to worry about not selling it out like usual as UEFA insist on bigger advertising boards with no visible spectators behind them. Also as it's so antiquated and the rows and seats are closer together that will mean a reduction in capacity of about 3-4k for them (was about 1500 for us from memory).

While you're right, what gives me hope is that Toulouse were ejected from Europe only two years ago for this same reason. There is a recent precedent, and the rules can't have changed that much
The limiting factor here is Lyon, Textor's other club, might not be allowed into European competition on the basis of their ropey financial situation in which case it's a moot point.

If Sh!thouse Park does not reach standards, we could offer the use of our lovely home, having already handled big European games….

It's not like me to be magnanimous when it comes to that lot, but.....

They've been superb this season.
All the stars have aligned and they've achieved something we are still dreaming of.

Next season they get to experience European football for the first time.
I don't begrudge them that, they've earnt it.

I hope UEFA don't enforce their rules in this case.
Primarily because I couldn't stand the next 20 years of belly-aching from that lot.
It's been bad enough listening to them whingeing about their third place not qualifying for europe, bullshit for the past 30 odd years.

Toulouse werent kicked out two years ago. They were in the Europa League and finished second in their group, behind Liverpool and ahead of USG before losing in the knock out play off round to Benfica.

Their owners who also own Milan made the necessary changes but were subject to the same transfer ban that us & USG and Villa & the Portuguese club they also own were hit with.

I don’t think any team has actually been banned under the multi club ownership rules yet. UEFA have always been satisfied by the steps taken to show either shareholding have been reduced, and/or they don’t have anyone having significant control over both clubs. This includes the two Red Bull clubs, who showed they were run entirely separately and had no common board members despite their ownership at the time it came up.

In Tony Blooms case I don't think he even sat on the board at USG. So even though he was the majority shareholder he probably had no voting rights. However to make sure he was fully compliant he reduced his shareholding as well.

It will be interesting to see how they deal with Palace and if the voting rights of their other board members would show Textor has no significant control over Palace and UEFA are happy with this despite him having 45% of the shares (which is above UEFAs threshold).

And if you ever come across us, don't give us your sympathy
You can buy us a drink and just shake our hands
And you'll recognize by the reflection in our eyes
That deep down inside, we're all one and the same
We're clutchin' at straws
We're still drownin'
Clutchin' at straws
We're still drownin', yeah

You're right. I was SURE I had read that they were banned, but it seems they were given a reprieve. Given that, I can't see Palace getting excluded now. Shame

As I said on another thread: Bollocks to that. They won the FA Cup due to a massive VAR error somehow deciding that the keeper’s intentional handball hadn’t denied the world’s best striker of a goal scoring opportunity. They don’t deserve the Europa League.

Wasn’t sure where to put this but prob best place. I’m watching last nights motd on my iPad and have SSN on the TV with the sound down. So far so good.

Sky are switching between the celebrations at Liverpool, Napoli and somewhere in Croydon. I was perplexed to see someone with blonde and pink hair dressed in yellow at some(whatever record decks are called these days) - I thought she was having some kind of seizure but after a while it became clear she was just getting down with the kids and trying to create some form of atmosphere.
I’m sure it’s lovely and I’m only envious of a trophy but blimey it was very strange - DO NOT WATCH - I’m swapping to the League 2 play off final

I doubt it'll happen, but I can't emphasise enough how much I'd love 30years of mithering from them about how unfair it all is.

It'd shine a light on my cloudiest day just thinking about it.

They have not been 'superb'. Well maybe they have if you like a scrappy and unattractive counterattacking style of play. They are horrible to watch much like forest.
