I dont subscribe to that view at all. I support this club and have done for 34 odd years, however I have no problem missing games to do other things, like go and watch London Irish. Football has become something else I do. It has failed to be the be and end of my life.

As for Ian, what a rediculous thread FFS.
Dave I forgot to mention the other week, Your boys took one helluva beating (well you lost) !!! You aint seen nothing like the mighty quins !!! :clap2::clap2:

mmmm

We missed our internationals, but fair play to the Quinns.

Could be tight at the end of the season

thanks for your positive reply lovey. about time you put your neck on the line and start a thread yourself instead of the back seat attitude you seem to have.

By the look of things your attitude seems to have been affected by too much time back stage with Pete Shelley - lovey:love:

Seems to me that Harty has himself lost touch with grassroots support. He rugby experience is hardly typical or do all fans enjoy being greeted by their clubs commercial manager personally and invited to dine before the game.

Personnally, don't see him as a big loss and he is so Adams orientated it ruins the phone in. I remember when we were in the championship under McGhee and all he could say was that relegation would be disastrous for the club. Well it happened and it wasn't. We will get relegated again but probably almost as certain is that we will see promotions.
Managers, players, newspaper reporters, radio hosts come and go but fans will always be there whether in spirit or body.

HARTY: Is he going cold on the Albion? - Worthing Today

"As for the hatred and the vitriol, I'm told this is part-and- parcel of the modern football fan. Well, if that's the case, I'm not sure in the long term I want to be a part of it.

Like I said, I won't desert the Albion. But clearly our "relationship" won't be as full on."

Hatred and vitiol?! Not from what I've seen. If you prefer to go to Roundstone Garden Centre and watch egg-chasing on a Saturday afternoon that's fine. Leave the Albion for those of us that still have a 'full on relationship' with the Club.
Ian Hart is a massive fan of Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club but also has interests in his local community we all get disillusioned sometimes I am at the moment I didn't go last week I won't go this week I have also paid £400 for the privilege and will do again next year as Ian has and will do next year.

On his day Ian is a first class Phone In host if SCR did a sports chat show he's be in the chair. I have spent time with Ian at a few Albion games recently he is funny (occasionally) friendly and compassionate to those he meets ..........get of his back mate.

Ian has to promote his company and in so doing will sponsor matches whether they be football or rugby and will then benefit as any match sponsor does. It is not only BHA supporters who have the need of his firms services. I do not think tyhat he could possibly just forget about us as he is and has been too actively involved for many years.

In fairness the levels of abuse aimed at Adams should not come within a million miles of the abuse rightly aimed at Archer and Stanley. I want Adams gone but some of the comments on here would make you think he was the anti christ rather than a past his sell by date manager.

I don't mean to say that it is justified now, just that the idea that hatred and vitriol is a modern phenomenon is faulty, and Ian Hart has shown negativity in the past too (because he wanted to protect his club, which is why many people are being so negative now, they feel they need to save the club from adams taking us down, leading to an exodus of players, falmer funding falling through and the club collapsing, etc).

It may be a little more over the top at the moment due to the heighten emotions of this season, I don't disagree, I simply mean to point out the long standing history of negativity in football, we just look back with rose tinted glasses having better retention of the good memories than of the bad ones.

Looks like it's open season for knocking people at the moment...

IMO folk like Samrah, Hart, Costa, Watts, Carder, Bassford, South etc are by and large responsible for us even having a club, so I for one will not knock them, unless of course they sell their soul and morals!

I wonder what a lot of the people on this forum would do if things went hunky dory all the time? They'd be bored to tears no doubt - maybe even gutted they couldn't offer vitriol at someone who is fighting for our own cause.

You have to have the lows in football to appreciate the highs... Walter Smith got it about right when he said that the one thing you can absolutely guarantee in football, is that you will suffer many many disappointments. But it doesn't mean you should give up.

Ian Hart gives his all as a fan with blunt honesty and integrity (and a bit of cheek for fun, bless him)
I'm not convinced that some of our fans can align with that...

This thread is well out of order.

Harty is simply contrasting a pleasant day out at the rugby with all the shit and baggage that comes with the Albion, and he states clearly the Albion will always be his first love.

The guy has a family and runs his own business and his priorities in life have changed - he is a similar age to me, and I know how hard it is to be self-employed with a couple of kids.

I don't agree with his view on Adams, but I usually do concur on most stuff. So what? Football's about opinions.

Give him credit for carrying the torch when we needed it in the dark days, and lay off the person attacks - he's ten times the fan you are IBF.

Hi Pavilionaire, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you so not sure how you know me, but considering you've posted over 6000 times and have a racist as an avatar I'm not really sure I want to.

So he rings into his own phone in, drunkenly says something he seems to regret the next day then writes about it in his local newspaper column.

Anyone else find this overly self referencing?

I chose televised rugby over the Albion last weekend, and I sure I'm not alone.
 As time goes on, I find it easier and easier to detach myself from the Albion, and football in general. I think it's an age thing in my case. As Ian Hart suggests in the article (& Tooting says above), if watching the Albion is making you angry, you're better off doing something else. I'm not sure about "angry", but the Albion sure do piss me off at the moment.
