all of ours were caught with artificial lures including red gills over kingmere. during slack water we anchored up and feathered for some mackerel and did a bit of ground fishing.then when it picked up again carried on bassing. have caught a couple of good bass at selseys west beach over the years. my mate has an orkney longliner which we go out on all year round. we have had cod, bream, smoothies, big place, turbot, gurnardwhiting but to name a few over the years and i also do a lot of freshwater fishing.

I'm a bit new to the freshwater scene but i've been pleased with my catches so far and I do find it very relaxing even if I do get outfished by my sons every time but it's worth it. I keep promising myself to get back out in a boat again one day! I've never been into wreck fishing but I do enjoy a bit of rough ground fishing and my best fish to date are 29lb conger and an 8lb spurdog. Again not massive but the conger was fun on a 4/0 aberdeen hook and a 40lb mono trace.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
It was great fun. I am a novice kayaker, only one trip beforehand, which was a 10k trip to an island in lake Malawi, but it was very calm in Brighton today, so no danger! Some chap was having a bit of luck by The West Pier. He had a little powerboat and moored by the end of it. He obviously got all my fish!

How would i know?I'm pissed.
ive always thought the best beach fishing place round here was pevensea, caught a thornback ray off there a couple of summers ago
I always enjoyed reasonable success at Pevensey Bay, where i won the Aqua Club Open but i prefered fishing Princes Parade at Sandgate

South Central Southwick
Blimey, a fishing thread on NSC.
Very good at the mo.
Bass, grey mullet, flounder, black bream, red mullet and sole (at night) on red rag off Southwick Arm.
One or two huge sea trout in between the breakwaters as well (someone caught one on floatfished black lug the other day, which was weird) I had a go with a spinner but no luck.
Stacks of wrasse and more flounders and mullet on red rag off the threepenny bit (under the derelict coastguard station near Shoreham lifeboat)
Mackerel everywhere.
Freezer filling up.

My next job is sorting out exactly how much fishing gear i've actually got so the little bulldogs are going up in the loft this weekend to bring it all down. Mrs bulldog thinks i'm an obsessive tackle buyer and I fear she may be somewhere near the truth so we are going to count the rods & reels this weekend. I've still got a couple of new Fox sea rods i'm waiting to try.

36 fishing rods and 24 reels! Maybe mrs bulldog was right after all
