Dear all,
I need some advice !
A few weeks ago i decided to fulfill my dream and go bass fishing. I
got my own little fishing boat and tried to get my partner to join
me, but she just never liked fishing. Finally, one day at the Bait &
Tackle Shop, I got to talking to Sam the shop owner who it turned
out loves bass fishing as much as I do. We quickly became fishing
buddies. As I said her indoors doesn't care about fishing. She not
only refuses to join us she always complains that I spend too much
time fishing. A few weeks ago Sam and I had the best fishing trip
ever. Not only did I catch the most beautiful bass you've ever seen,
only a few minutes later Sam must have caught his twin brother! So I
took a picture of Sam holding up the two nice bass that we caught
and showed the picture to the wife hoping that maybe she'd get
interested. Instead she says she doesn't want me to go fishing at
all anymore! And she wants me to sell the boat! I think she just
doesn't like to see me enjoying myself.
What would you do?
Tell the wife to forget it and continue my hobby or quit fishing and
sell the boat as she insists?
Enclosed is a picture of Sam with the two bass we caught

Cheers

Did you know Bully that there are only 2 things that smell of fish and one is fish.

I'm just waiting for my back to get a bit better before I start blowing the cobwebs off my fishing rods, In the meantime i'm restricted to reading sea angler and looking at all the stuff on Ebay I cant afford to buy.

Nothing wrong with fishing, my biggest fish this year is a 35lb 4oz tope on Bracklesham beach .....

Thats somewhat better than my return so far this year. I know my fishing has been somewhat restricted but my best so far has been.....

Sea ......1lb mackeral
fresh water.......2lb 1oz perch

Thats a quality fish. My next job is sorting out exactly how much fishing gear i've actually got so the little bulldogs are going up in the loft this weekend to bring it all down. Mrs bulldog thinks i'm an obsessive tackle buyer and I fear she may be somewhere near the truth so we are going to count the rods & reels this weekend. I've still got a couple of new Fox sea rods i'm waiting to try.

I've got a Fox bass rod and a Fox pier rod to try, They feel good quality for the price I paid so if I get on with them ok I can see some more Fox rods turning up here in the future.

wonder if your bass rod is the same as mine???
think mine is 11ft 6" off top of my head.
its quite a light rod too, not like the big cumbersome beach-casters you find.

think you'll be very happy with it once you've tried it out

nice fish mate.
strange to get a tope from the beach?
lucky you :D

smoothhounds and dogfish normally but never heard of anyone catching tope that close in before.

well done :clap2:

Every year there is a small run of tope inshore around selsey and bracklesham way. They come in very close eating mackerel, pouts etc.

I caught mine on a whole side of mackerel and wire trace (they will bite straight through 100lb line), about 40 yards out. Tope are probably the biggest fish likely to come within casting distance in Sussex although a few monster stingrays always come up at Climping ..... great fun watching swimmers looking to see what you got on the end of your line and when they see its a stinger they all run out of the water pretty quick. :bigwave:

Had plenty of smoothounds this year, Goring near Worthing was full of them , the biggest i saw was 18lb 9oz but there were a couple bigger caught.
