good luck 2 england, but a knight goal in the last minute that seals a rare albion victory has got to mean more than staring at a t.v shouting come on england!

amen sister!

yes but at least they get behind there country and care if england win and not degrade there achivements like some narrow minded football fans are about the rugby

Not degrading the teams achievements which are great. Still disagree to a certain extent with your comment on the fans though. The majority are just the sort of people that enjoy watching a bit of sport in a pub. It wouldn't cross their mind to watch a local rugby / football match OR watch the international game live (i.e. not on TV) . They are the same faces whether it is England football or England rugby. People that revel in the glory of nearly winning something.

Fair play to them, I can understand getting swept up in the excitement of the latter stages of a tournament England are involved in. It is an easy non-commital way of supporting your country so I suppose in essence you are also correct, however you will not see those faces again for any run of the mill game.

Personally, I am not a rugby follower, but hope England win.
Albion at County comes first for me though without a doubt.

I've never played the game nor have I ever been to a match but thank God for the rugby especially as watching The Albion has been so painful this season. How is it not possible to enjoy the rugby? Did people see the Australia New Zealand semi-final? They battered the hell out of each other - you could hear the crowd wincing as player after player smashed into each other. No winging, no diving though unlike football, it's man's game. And we beat the French ... no crowd trouble to take the shine from it. England are in the final; it's all good stuff surely. AND we might actually win it!

Roll on Saturday, rugby final in the morning, Albion in the afternoon. At the moment, I have no doubt that the rugby will be the more enjoyable.

Small minded nonsense. How come most of my rugby following friends don't fit into either category.

I kinow this is a minority view but I would quite happily see Brighton lose 5-0 on Saturday, and a few more Saturdays as well, if it meant England winning the Rugby World Cup.

I think International Rugby Union is a fantastic game, at it's very best it's probably more exciting than football, certainly more exciting than most football internationals.

A heartfelt rebuttal if ever I read one! For two reasons, firstly the World Cup is every four years and this is only the second time we've reached the final. Secondly - we're playing Australia, in sport they're the modern Soviet Union. To beat them on their own patch in the final of a major sporting event would be brilliant - especially if we can do it without scoring any tries.

To me that's worth a few defeats out of 46 odd league games. I did say it was a minority view and I totally accept that most people will disagree.

in the scheme of things a world cup is a million times more important than a div 2 game.

and your statement about it being a poofs sport what do you think is more homosexual? diving all over the place like you have been hit by a sniper or putting yout team before yourself and tackling a giant who weighs about 18stone which is all muscle

tough one really

This is much much bigger!!!!!! I'd like us to win at Notts County, but we've always got a game next week. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the current England team to make this country f***ing proud!

There is no way on earth you should ever put what will (probably)be a crap game at Notts County ahead of a chance of making history in the Aussies own backyard!

So it's here to you Jason and not Jakey Robinson this weekend!

yes your completely right a world cup final is fifty times more important than away to notts county,if it was the sport i liked,i couldnt give a toss if they won it,id rather they did,but the fact is,i go week in, week out+it ruins my wkend if we lose, but this rugby is nonsence compared 2 the real thing that takes place in nottingham!

at the end of the day we are no where near good enough to go up this year (you may slate me but you mostly know its true) and with the lack of funding for the team its really not going to change ,so i couldnt care less if brighton lost on sat if england win

I'll be watching the rugby, but then I asn't going up to Notts anyway.
I don't pretend to be some big expert, but I've latched on to the World Cup since the Knockout stages (also watched the South Africa group match), and its been gripping stuff, specilly as England keep on having to come from behind to win. I don't understand all the rules (giving a penalty for offside seems insanely harsh to me, if I could only work out the bloody offside rule in rugby !), but I admire the spirit, guts, determination and professionalism showed by that England team every time they take the field.

There's a football team I know who could learn a thing or two from them.

Absolutely right Easy. My sentiments exactly. Like I said, it's a man's game.

One shite result in division two when there are plenty more to win and still come out on top against one big bloody important game for the national side but in a different sport.

Absolutely no contest. England all the way.

Bet the idiots complaining now will revel in the glory if we win. They'll probably go up to any aussie they know and take the piss.

Anyway, rugby is a much better run game than football (well, not in Wales) and the players show a lot more pride or they are dropped. Never happens in football, bunch of overpaid arrogant layabouts most of them.

Why not do both. I'm travelling early - get there for 9:00 - few beers.

I remember the last time I had this almost exact same dilema. 1995 Australia vs England in the Rugby World Cup Final or Brighton vs Blackburn at Ewood Park.

BHA came first that time as well, although finals were in England, so I didn't have the option to do both. Decided to video it and try and avoid the result. Was sucessful until I got home, when my Irish father in-law phoned to gloat - first line being "shame about the Rugby".

Anyone remember a dodgy penalty with Beaney being sent off? We didn't have reserve keeper on the bench, but I can't remember who the non-goal keeping sub was? Anyone remember?
