Two more stats that support idea that FAB had a good season statistically.

Resilience. Joint top of the table for points earned after going behind.

and top of the table for subs with the most goal involvements.

We were 5 points off a Champions League spot this season.
And I genuinely think RDZ would’ve found those 5 points. Just my opinion and not a dig at Fab, i just believe Roberto would’ve got a bit more out of what I see as a very good squad.

Fair enough. He wouldn't have been "pushing" for Champions League - we're closer this year than we've ever been including in 22/23.. He'd have secured it then. !

Fair comment.

It’s another reason why ppg is a daft measure. If you arbitrarily said “Europa League points per game” then obviously there’s only one coach on our history in the competition. The same one that’s the only one who’s had to juggle Thursday / Sunday and long foreign aways.

However, this thread should really be about Hurzeler. Like others I’ve been unimpressed at times and he’s proved us wrong. It’s been an excellent season for a young, rookie coach new to the country.
Part agree we’ve had some good and bad results although practically every pressure game or a game we’ve been expected to win we’ve blown out.

Well we get knocked out of the FA Cup. But were there no pressure games(Chelsea ? Newcastle ? ) leading up to the QF ? or no pressure games in the PL (we won 16 times ? ) .

And weren't we expected to win v Southampton (A) - won, Ipswich (A) - won , Spurs (A) - won, Wolves (A) - won, Norwich in the cup - won etc etc

Imagine how good we’d have been if he hadn’t lost the dressing room, all the players didn’t hate him, he wasn’t an overpromoted PE teacher who was nowhere near ready for PL football and hadn’t got outthought by every other manager he came up against.

All this must be true because I read it on here.

The after effects of the 7-0 were wide reaching. Some good - burning the plans and beating Chelsea twice in a week- but some bad in that we played within ourselves in the QF. Needed a point yesterday and got three, albeit against a team that were in the pub more than on the beach.

No longer getting into RDZ vs FH. Suffice to say I wanted RDZ sacked in the late part of last season. I have never wanted FH sacked but I was sliding down the wrong side of the fence post Forest’s 7-0. I am now pretty keen on him, he may be duller than RDZ but he appears to be a team player and not a talented stroppy kid. Just what we need long term. Team spirit seems to be amazing these days.

lol Selective stats there you know the home games against Ipswich, Southampton, Leicester, Wolves, Everton still happened you can’t hide them away. Win two of those and it would have been Europe again.

If Fab ever manages to stop people banging on about RDZ he will surely be a club legend..

Tough ask of course

I have undertaken and indepth appraisal of the key data is this debate and these are my findings.

Fab is the manager of Brighton

RDZ isn't.

Fab is better

RDZ isn't.

It REALLY was - until it wasn’t. RDZ is a firework. Massive high then BANG - plummet to earth and all round soggy cardboard and burnt stick .
He didn't/wouldn't fit into the clubs process, it's a shame because when it was good the football was brilliant.

Shit happens, soggy cardboard and burnt stick in hand we move on (well most of us 🤣).

Yes. But if you want to remind us of the draws then you also have to acknowledge that If we'd not beaten - all "pressure games" by your definition - City, Liverpool, United (twice), Newcastle (twice), Spurs (twice) , Chelsea (twice) then we'd have been below Palace and not a pen away from Wembley (again) .

3. We faced Spurs with no recognised striker. This can't happen again next season (I acknowledge we got away with against Spurs with super rare goals from corners, a rare penalty and a rare wondergoal).
I think we scored around 7 goals from corners this season?
We also had 7 penalties - second in the league behind Liverpool (9)
And there's a thread on here somewhere about the increasing frequency of wonder goals https://www.northstandchat.com/threads/quality-of-goals-this-season.413668/

So - not really super rare!
