Was bloody delighted to hear Fab say Physicality, you need it all over the pitch, we are far too nice as a side.

That comment spells the end of Adingra and Facundo for me, plus a few others.

Facundo? He's an Argentinian, he's going to have a bit of the dark arts about him. And his treatment at Leicester won't have helped his mood, I reckon he'll be all fired up for next season

I don't get all the "FH has no charisma, he's so wooden" stuff. I think he comes across really well. I've warmed to him a lot recently, and it's so clear why Bloom and Barber want to work with someone like him rather than an RDZ type.
Yes, exactly this. I think he comes across as a genuinely nice guy. Funny that McGhee and Adams can get labelled as dinosaurs on here but you see a current premier mnager in Hurzeler interested in what they have to say.

Mark McGhee famously very good at man management at the Albion… :lolol:

To be fair I’d find it difficult to deal with the absolute c*nts that were Colin Kazim Richards and Leon Knight.
Maybe he learnt more about it after dealing with those two and both were disciplined by the club at different occasions at the time iirc

It doesn't matter where he's from. He can't hold off players like Rutter, or win a flick like Welbeck or terrify defenders with pace like Minteh.

Now don't get me wrong, Facu is a terrific prospect and I think will have a good career for club and country. I just wonder if Fab is looking for a different skillset in that position though.

He does speak well doesn't he? To be fair, I think he's spoken well all season outside of the press conferences.
I think most of them do. Potter came across as pretty interested and engaged in most of the interviews I listened to outside of the press conference grind (it was during Covid, the alternative was trying to make it through another page of Finnegan's Wake).

De Zerbi always came across a lot better in other interviews as well, particularly if they were in Italian and he could let loose with the wild gesticulating.

Yeah, press conferences are the worst. Honestly they should just put out a list with everyone's injury status and leave it at that.

I think they should also include a formation to try and bluff/double bluff the opposition and press.

Yeah mate, we're *totally* going to play a 4-4-2. And we'll be hoofing it at every possible opportunity.

That's not a bad idea.

They could also, if they insist on asking endless inane questions, have a tombola with random answers in it which the manager then riffs on.

Q: What do you think about player x from the opposition team having a midweek night out in dunstable?

A: * Riff on gavin and stacy christmas specials.*

Headline: Manager says opposition player is an annoying twat like James Cordon.

It'd be about as relevant as what we get now.

Love both Adams and McGhee

When I won the Coke thing I had to go to Withdean a few weeks after for a Sky Sports thing and I stepped on the pitch to make way for a photographer.
McGhee says to me:
“Careful Aaron, the groundsman will have yer f*ckin’ bollox if you step on his wee carpet!”
😂

I found it interesting that Mark McGhee said the biggest achievement of his managerial career, wasn't winning the playoffs at Cardiff, but staying up the following year.
Not only was he operating on a miniscule budget compared with the rest of the division (we barely spent a penny that summer), he was also forced into selling our best defender/captain and our most creative Midfielder halfway through the season

Three observations from this:

1. I think my own personal opinions on FH not being up to scratch might be wrong - humility goes a long way in my book in terms of judging emotional intelligence.

2. I didn't appreciate how knowledgeable McGhee was especially on several references to Germany or German coaching styles.

3. How the f*** did this even come about?! Are we literally digging up anyone who's had any connection to our club ever (apart from he who must never be mentioned Gus Poyet) and inviting them back to some kind of gainful/ambassadorial appointment? Is there no end to our gravy train?!
RE 3, Adams and McGhee were at the players awards and, given many fans haven't warmed to FH (see 1), getting them together is a helpful opportunity to make connections with the club's history which might just win some fans around.

It doesn’t really matter.
You get some charismatic managers who do well, some who do badly.
And studious types who do well or badly.
