I've seen several winning games from losing positions from Hughton. This is only the second season in the Prem, so we haven't got the players that we need yet. It is a slow process but it seems the fans are getting impatient.

I know. I have a particular emotional attachment to the Charlton game when we came back from two down after five minutes. But he's only done it once in the PL. Against Huddersfield. One of the worst teams in PL history. Who played with ten men for an hour.

CH deserves his respect, and he deserves to go down as the club's best manager -- but that's hardly the same thing as to whether he should continue next season. I'm just sceptical that he's the right person for us next season. I've only recently come to that view. He's an amazing defensive coach, but I have my questions about his attacking credentials, and his ability to turn games around from losing positions. Nothing stays still at this level, and it seems other coaches have worked him out, and can counter his approach increasingly effectively. I have my doubts about his ability to adapt at this level.
This is all said in the knowledge of 'be careful what you wish for' (a phrase I've uttered several times in the past), what has happened to similiar-sized clubs when they've jettisoned their defensive-oriented manager, just how much of a gent Chris is, and how brilliant he's been for us. I feel a little dirty saying it, but it's a view, that's all.

Nah; Mullers for me.
He knew how to attack and defend and there was no doubting the fire in his belly!

Two seasons. Just two seasons with Championship players in the main. At least give him one more transfer window.

Btw my favourite was Birmingham away.

Well all managers get sacked "at some point" but this summer, assuming we stay up (*prays*) - then i'd be amazed.

Wagner didn't...he resigned and walked away with a very heavy heart.

I thought you knew everything about football?

Oh so to prove he is rubbish you're going to ignore the previous two years? Come off it, that is really pushing an agenda.

Have I said he was rubbish? No I haven’t and he’s not. I have no agenda I would like him to take us to the next level but I feel he has reached his on what I’m seeing. Is it the players? Who knows but he is certainly part of the problem imo.

If, as seems likely, TB sticks with him he will get my support at every game but I will have a moan on here if we carry on like we have for most of this season

We had some great, if lucky results, he tried something different, which was fun to watch, even if it didn’t work. He then reverted to the defensive style and for whatever reason it’s not working well, especially at home

He had no choice but to revert to the defensive style to get results. I can remember when he first took over, people complained about him being very defensive and quoted Norwich fans. Once we'd stayed up, he then got his own players in and we started challenging again.
If you had been told then, we would get promoted and survived two seasons in the Prem, going to Wembley is a semi final, you'd have bitten my hand off.

I think he will still be here at the start of next season, so let's see what the transfer window brings in. Hopefully players that will contribute to the standard we need.

You've expressed how I feel far better than I could...

Talking of recruitment, going with a 23 man squad instead of a 25 man squad after January seems like complacency of epic proportions !

It's not perfect as they sometimes produce reports based on a bit of informed gossip but on the whole it has value (although not the prices they try to charge for some of their reports).

They're good guys in the main, have always got on well with them.

Yeah your correct - They definitely know how to Charge Fees

They offered me a job many years ago many years ago when I was first moving from Newcastle to London - Probably only because I worked for a ''Top 4 Practice'' at the time in Newcastle. I definitely wasn't a good fit for them.

I turned them down, Interview Procedure was Robotic - Their ''in house'' practices sounded Robotic with very little client contact as the people who correspond with the clients didn't appear to do the work.

Worked out well for me though coz after I rejected their offer was when I ended up going to a firm specialising in Sport and Media with direct client contact.

All is well and ends well as they say.

Loved that period but the gulf between top and us was never this big, hence our ‘staying in the game’ tactics.
I preferred us having a go even if we did get some spankings.

As an aside, does anyone think that CH might not want to continue next season even if we stay up.

I don't think any manager would leave without a payoff unless he had been hunted by a better club. Wagner was a surprise and unusual.

Disagree, just about any Championship club with ambition looking to change their manager would definitely be in for him imo.

I think he may struggle to get a Premier League job until a team down the bottom decide to change manager next season. He does have a decent record of keeping teams up, even if the football is dire.

I don’t think he’s going anywhere though and regardless of what I think it’s hard to argue with TB wanting to keep him if our ambition is just to stay in the PL. It’s going to be interesting times regardless of which division we are in and I’m not as convinced as some that we are as good as safe in the PL.

He still works as a scout for the club and mentions two players he recommended in the past which were ignored.

Phil McNulty also gave his opinion about Chris Hughton and how respected he is in the game.

It is possible that Warren has a bit of an axe to grind, because players he has scouted have been ignored whilst players from the dutch league have been taken on. He doesn't list Davey Propper when talking about players from the dutch leagues.

He also describes Izquierdo as a flop, which is more than a little harsh IMO.
