He has caused enough death and is intent on causing more. I can see him being killed by a terrorist that only became one as a result of his "foreign policy"

Even after his second term, he's probably going to need more personal security for the rest of his life than any other President in history. The Republican tax payer should enjoy that one.

They cancelled his drive up capital hill when he won last time for his own safety!! It is amazing how much hatred he has fuelled all over the world including his own back yard

Yorkie, Bush is deeply, deeply unpopular - even hated in the way Thatcher was - with those in the States who didn't vote for him. That is not always the case.

And in Europe, he is fast becoming the most reviled politician in living memory, even among some conservatives. His attitude towards the wider world and the UN is disgusting.

It's not a fluke, and it is democracy in action. He got more than 50 per cent of the vote for the first time since 1988. But it is scary, and you do wonder what goes on in the heads of so many Septics.

I accept that a lot of people in the States, and outside of the States, either love him or hate him.

I am completely indifferent and just wonder why there is so much hysteria about world war 3 and the world is going to end.
Leaders who go to war are never popular.
People hated Winston Churchill and called him a war monger but he did the right thing (that does not mean I think Bush did the right thing before anybody thinks that gives them carte blanche to have a go at me) at the time.

I think some people on NSC are losing the plot. This hysteria about Bush is ridiculous. Its no good beating the man with a big stick everyday  , put forward some alternatives.

Eh?!? How about Kerry and Al Gore before him? Bush has got his second term, what's the relevance of alternatives?

As for Bin Laden being more dangerous than Bush, you're missing the fact that one is an intelligent and shrewd operator whilst the other is a puppet who can barely string three words together and is at the helm of the world's greatest superpower.

I can't help but feel the options in this poll are a bit 'loaded'.

Maybe they could read:

1) Happy, the bloke is a warmonger and doesn't seem to be doing a lot of good for the world

2) Not fussed.

3) Sad, he was democratically elected (this time) and whatever our opinions he has won according to the laws in his country.

As I say, this poll seems a bit loaded and although I agree with many of the sentiments I feel it has led to some very reactionary voting.

Are you suggesting that my poll was slightly impartial?

I'm hurt.

I'm often tempted to repeat my request for a special 'Spelling Police' role on NSC so that I can go into other people's posts and correct the appalling spelling and grammar.

This was one such, until I realised that it's probably deliberate. If so, Tooting and others, please use (sic) to avoid any doubt, and increase the enjoyment of those of us who care.

Must admit I can't see it myself LPC, are you thinking his use of rhyming slang (as in Septic - Septic Tank - Yank) was meant to read sceptic?

Sorry mate, forgot about that. Hope its all going well for you.
I was jesting!!!!

No probs!

I think Bush is potentially more dangerous than Thatcher and Reagan, because in 2004 we have no global power super check such as the USSR .... if Bush wanted to nuke Iran I am sure he would find an excuse!

I wouldn't wish death on anyone however the Americans are very mis-guided in voting him in.

Remember The Curse Of The Presidents.

Every president elected in a zero year from 1840 has died while in office, right up to Reagan who survived assassination and bucked the trend.

Bush was elected in a zero year...

hang on a minute...if Bush is so unpopular, why did 54% of the people that voted actually vote him in? I heard that this is the largest percentage of votes that a US president has received since Franklin D Roosevelt.

Tony blair/ margaret Thatcher in all their popularity are voted in with 35% of the vote on average.

One could argue that the american system is true democracy as the people get who they actually want...whereas we get someone who is elected by a minority!

I think all this Anti Bush stuff is rather pathetic and childish. we may not like him, but at the end of the day the Americans voted for him and it had got absolutely f*** all to do with us.
