How will your day go when we play at Falmer for the first time

Ok a bit of forward looking and purely fantasy at the moment. But just think of the day when Brighton play their first match at Falmer. Any rituals, watering holes, meeting up places, how you will feel etc.

I will be attending that game with my little daughter who will then be 3 years old. I will have already kitted both her and myself out in the latest Brighton kit.

It will be her first game. She's too young to go to the pub. Just the thought of taking her on the train amongst all of you and other supporters. Chanting on the train. Chanting at Falmer station.

Then the walk to the stadium. I would probably have seen it already before, but not with thousands of other supporters mingling around. A visit to the stadium club shop would be in order.

Then into the stadium to sit in our seats. Looking around, marvelling at everything, reading the souvenir programme.

Then just before kick off, Dick Knight appears to address the supporters. My god, will I gave him some cheer and applause and then the moment comes. Brighton players appear for kick off. Good old Sussex by the Sea being played by a brass band.

I will hold my little girl up, so that she can see. I will be so proud. Proud of myself and those around me, proud for my little girl who hopefully will not have to suffer these shit years. Then, the moment will get to me emotionally and no doubt a few tears will be shed. I dont think there will be too many dry eyes in the ground.

I hope it will be a glorious sunny day :)

singing section at one end of the stadium, and a moaning section at the other end!

If I can afford it I hope to be near the half way line :falmer:

My sons will be 6, 6 and 4 if we open on time in 2010, so I plan to take all three of them to the first game along with my dad who'll be 73 and I'll be 39 (whoa, scary thought !) and I intend on getting the train to Falmer from Burgess Hill nice and early so we've got time to take it all in. Win Lose or Draw, it will be a day we shall never forget, and hopefully my three boys will get the bug and will keep wanting to go week after week, like their Dad, and his dad before him did. Unfortunately, my grandad will be 91 then, and wont be able to make it (he is too frail even now, and might not even make it 2010). Those bastards at LDC have got a lot to answer for.

Our son telephoned me about this on Wednesday after I'd emailed him a summary of the stadium roadshow.
Provided my health holds up, we intend to walk to Falmer via Withdean from the site of the Goldstone in Old Shoreham Road. I shall, as always, be wearing the Albion scarf I was given by my mum before my first game when I was six.
If the Albion are there as planned in August 2010, it will be the 50th anniversary (almost to the day) of my first game.
Anyone else will be very welcome to join us.
(I just hope no-one proposes to him today as marriage could bugger up the plan big time).

Assuming its a Saturday. Me and my 14 year old son will get up bright and early and go for a brisk nine holes. We'll then go and have a slap-up breakfast at Woodies Diner along Portslade seafront. After that, we'll go home and get togged out in our Albion gear, and then wander along to the Whistlestop Tavern next to Portslade Station to watch the lunchtime game on Sky. At about 2pm, after I have consumed several Beaters, we will embark on a train for the short journey to Brighton Station, then catch our connection to Falmer. On this second train I will become embroiled in a petty but increasingly heated argument with an opposing fan about the shitness of his teams away shirt this season, which will culminate in me smashing his head against the 'emergency stop' button, bringing the train to a premature halt. Several witnesses will then report me as being loud and boorish to the transport police officer in attendence, and the fan I assaulted will wish to press charges. The train will continue its journey to Falmer, whereupon I will give my ticket to my distraught son, tell him to get all he can for it, before being carted off in the back of a police van. I will spend the remainder of the afternoon and most of that evening "cooling off" in a St John street police cell, before being charged with common assault, and bailed to appear before magistrates two weeks later.

The game will end 0-0.

the mrs will drive me from Mile Oak, drop me off at 2 oclock. I will walk over to Falmer Pond and urinate in it, I will then go to the ticket office and buy my ticket for the game, I will pop into the supporters bar to queue for 35 minutes for a pint of Harveys, which I will get from some surley chav or immigrant.

I will make my way to the "NON ALLOCATED SEATS", will stand watching the game until steward 433 tells me to sit down and then I will watch the game through misty eyes.

After the game, I will walk to the Hikers and get picked up by the mrs and go home.....OR hang around to do the radio and get to leave at 6 ish when all the crowds have gone and then the mrs can pick me up from the ground.

Good CALL Dave! Reckon we should ALL vow to make that pilgrimage at least once in the inaugural season.

Should the first game be an evening kick-off, I for one shall be carrying a torch to contribute to Upward Glare. It will also help me locate the pond.

....and also reduce the possibility of a bat collision of course

That wont happen !!

Because there wont be any lunchtime game on SKY to watch as the first game at Falmer will most likely be a pre season match!

I will get to The Burrell for opening time, drink enough to ensure that I can't remember how bad the game is, then drink some more after the final whistle.
