I thought Gus said that the budget for next year will be about half way up the Championship? So whatever somone like Bristol City spent last year will give us an idea of what might be spent.

It's all speculation and pure guess work. I would have thought more importantly would be the wage structure Brighton has which would encourage players to come to the club. We might find ourselves in a position that we cannot attract the top Championship talent compared to those clubs currently in this league.

Poyet is a great manager who can get average players to play well has a team and improve some of them technically.

I think this new season realistically would be a top 12 finish.

Of course we dont know that is why the question was asked.

Why ask a aquestion to which nobody can give an answer. None of us have any idea whatsoever of how big the kitty is and righjtly so, if we know so do players agents, so the obvious answer is leave everybody wondering and guessing and assuming.

It doesn't mean anything anymore. It is all about the wage budget these days, and I have no real clue how much you'd expect the club to spend on salaries, nor what is considered a competitive figure.

Only the biggest clubs get to spend serious wedge on transfer fees these days.

Looking at it logically to strenghen the squad all we have to do is replace the players that were released with better players.

Hart
Kish
Baz
Battipiedi
Sandaza
Horoyd

I'm not sure we will have to break the bank to improve on this.

This does not take into account what happens with Murray.

sounds plausible and a very good place to begin .

That's all taken care with in the £m 15-(3+7) = £5m per year for management, all other staff, elec, rates, police, legals, park-and-ride, renting training facilities etc.

The ratio of payroll to turnover will still be lower than almost all other 91 clubs, and with zero bank interest thanks to Tony Bloom.
e.g. So'ton's was similar to turnover.

The £15m turnover is conservative estimate after looking at data for other Championship Clubs who've NOT had EPL parachute monies.

BHAFC are entering heady times.

The actual figures for previous seasons can be found fairly easily though, for the Albion and any other club that's a public company. It's just a question of doing some "Samrah" type data gathering.

04/05 - £3.551M
05/06 - £4.075M
06/07 - £3.682M
07/08 - £3.889M
08/09 - £4.756M

100m on stadium, 15m on an up and coming training facility.........now that we have got to the championship i cant imagine Bloom will want to get relegated a year later so my guess is the budget for this season will be enough to more than compete at this level. Gus and Bloom have both said we need 6-7 players who are going to improve us at this level so the budget is obviously there for that........its not going to be made public for players and agents benefit!!

Presumably if anybody did know the answer - then the question wouldn't have been asked. Either that, or it would've been answered after asking the question.

ps Haven't got a clue about the available budget btw.

Something like £10-11M for 2009/10 wasn't it?

What about the cost of running our fantastic new stadium.Yes our income will increase but so will our expenditure.

More police,stewards,caterers,programme sellers,cleaners,groundsman,admin,marketing,pr,merchandising,entertainment,
& the list goes on.

Offset against the saving the club will make through no longer having to rent offices in the town centre.
The extra income from the Amex will utterly DWARF the additional running costs. Goes without saying really.

.

I can understand that as very few supporters go to the offices but will they keep the shop in Brighton and open another one at The Amex or just have one at either Amex or in town. What are the plans?

TB said he is targetting a top six finish next season, so I'm guessing that means we'll have a top six budget.
What the figure is I have no idea.

They're keeping the club shop in the town centre I gather, and there'll be a SUPERSTORE at the Amex.
