Over the last few weeks & over the next few months this forum will be swamped with suggestions of players we should sign.

My question is how much money do you think we have to spend on new players?

Anything less than £5m would be poor.

I don't think its so much about 'how much we have to spend', but more what the wage budget might be.

It's all idle speculation and meaningless as such isn't it........ my guess would be something between £1m and £2m spent on transfer fees plus any money from the sale of Bennett if he goes so could be up to £3 to 3.5m.
Most signings will be freebies or nominal compensation so I'm guessing (hoping?) two "statement of intent" signings may be on the cards

Quite right that the figure that matters is how much we have for wages and we won't have the slightest idea of that until a long way down the line when the accounts are published

I would bet good money that we will break our record transfer fee paid for a player this summer,we may even break it twice.

I would of thought the monies available would be fluid situation ,and if Poyet asked he would get within reason, i expect budget has been talked about and i would estimate somewhere around the 2.8-3.5 million as a benchmark if he wants to strenghten all areas, i think we will see 3 new Brighton contracted players come August 6th plus 2 high profile loan deals.

Of course i shall be proved totally wrong but i would be genuinley suprised if we spend over the 3.5 million for players during the summer

I can't see much more than £3m being spent. Our problem may well be signing players on deals with our current wage structure

Looking at it logically to strenghen the squad all we have to do is replace the players that were released with better players.

Hart
Kish
Baz
Battipiedi
Sandaza
Horoyd

I'm not sure we will have to break the bank to improve on this.

This does not take into account what happens with Murray.

Any suggestion of an actual figure coming out of the Club will simply flag up to players' agents that there are opportunities here. We (and they) will be told NOTHING. And quite right too.

With recent accounts having turnover of say £4.5m and payroll of say £3m,
a new turnover of say £15m, with est. 2/3 spent on transfers and payroll should leave £7m extra for transfers in and their annual wages, and finance better contracts for the likes of Bennett and Muzza if staying; and the likes of El-Abd, Bridcuttt and Co also got recent pay rises.

The £7m (could be more) will be year-on-year, so the squad quality will improve dramatically over 2 or 3 years.

Plus the saved wages for Baz, Battiepedi, Wood, Holroyd, Tunnicliffe, Hart, Kishishev, Brezovan hopefully ... all helps increase the cash pot.
