about £2.00 odd in 1998 ish. It was a pint of Hurlimanns (I was 16. I'd not worked out what ABV % meant!!!). Bit of a mistake as I went back to school absolutely bollocksed after 2 pints of the stuff!!!

€3.50 and ironically enough due to excise duty cuts and a lengthy recession, there's still pubs that charge the same amount... was up to €5.95 in my local pre-recession and is now €4.60

... which has set me thinking ...

What was the price of a packet of fags when you first started smoking? Two bob for twenty Number 6, if I remember rightly. Or was it four bob? I can't remember what I first paid for five Woodbines, though.

Not my first but do remember Courage Directors at 17 1/2p & a packet of fags 17p!

It was the last time that fags were cheaper than a pint of bitter, this was early 70's.

15p for Watney's Red Barrel (hey, I was young and didn't know better) in the Stanmer Park at Fiveways. This would have been end of 1973

Went on a darts team day out to Dieppe in about 1982 and on the boat in the bar you could get a pint of Holsten AND twenty Rothman's for the wonderful price of 45p each !

Beachy Head & WSU
1975, 16p for Bitter, 17p for lager and 18p for light and bitter which was popular at the time - remember being gutted a year or two later when prices increased and could no longer get 5 pints for a pound
